02-05-1992 PINE VIEW CEMETERY COMMISSION Feb. 5, 1992 9: 00am Present : Dougher, Edwards, Prime, Supt . Mosher along with Mike Brandt, Nick Caimano, Betty Monahan and Sue Goetz Openings are continuing in Pine View but the frost is from two to three feet down . The remaining money for the long term storage of the body has finally been received. ($925) To help in the understanding of the work of the Commission, there was an explanation of the history of Pine View and the fact that, unique to Queensbury in the State of New York, the Pine View Cemetery and the Commission were created by an act of the Legislature and the Commission was given the responsibility of running the cemetery. Responding to an desire of some business people to buy the crematory, there was discussion of the pros and cons of such a sale . The consensus was that under the ownership of the Town of Queensbury, all the different funeral homes had access to the facility on an equal basis and that this was a service to the community as well as a revenue generator for the taxpayers . There followed a discussion on the financing of the crematory and repayment to the Perpetual Care Fund, the financing of the new retort , the general history of the sale of pieces of cemetery land and the assigning of a part of the monies received to a capital fund called "Boychuck" which has been drawn on from time to time for capital projects such as roads and fencing. There was a question concerning the sale of land east of Mark Plaza . No part of this has been assigned to the cemetery. There seemed to be a question as to w)iether this sale was a done deal or not . The Commissioners had gone along with the sale of the land with the understanding that we would again receive a portion of the sale . At the end of the meeting, Mike Brandt asked that a memo be sent to him outlining the costs of the crematory that have been taken from the Perpetual Care Fund, taken with the understanding that these costs would be repayed from the profits of the crematory. The profit for 1991 was approximately $35, 000 . Interments 2200 Cremations 6095 Lots 3000 Containers 400 Vault 300 Misc . 1075 CCOO "570 Grifirf
