06-02-1993 PINE VIEW CEMETERY COMMISSION
June 2, 1993
9: 00am
Present : Dougher, Edwards, Prime & Supt . Mosher
A stone , damaged by a snowplow this past winter, has had to be
replaced . It is located on a corner and, with the heavy amount of
snow to be moved, was accidentaly hit .
A decision has been made by the Cemetery Commission to withhold a
small part of the income of the crematory to begin replenishing
the perpetual care funds borrowed by the Town of Queensbury for
the purchase of the crematory and second retort . The budget income
figure, because of a raise in charges as of the begining of 1993,
allows this without disturbing the overall Cemetery/Crematory
budget .
The Cemetery Commission will present to the Town Board an outline
of past finances and a plan for the future . The state auditor
report has suggested certain actions which shall be taken into
account .
Flowers have been stolen from some gravesites . Even though it was
not a large number, it was distressing to all . The sheriff' s
patrol does drive in on a regular basis and Mr. Mosher checks as
often as possible . Artificial flowers were again picked up and
stored for their owners as they are not allowed in the cemeteries
for safety reasons .
One summer person (laid off from the highway department) was hired
at Mr. Brandt' s suggestion. He will be paid union wage and
benefits for ten weeks which is more than is generally done for
summer help. The Union representing town employees has put on
pressure to have laid-off people rehired whenever a position opens
up in the town. We did not have this wage and benefit schedule in
our budget but will work with just one, instead of two people , for
the summer so that we stay at or under the total planned for in
this section.
