The first order of business was to correct the minutes of the January meeting. Chairman Dougher stated that she spoke to Judge John Austin about the Austin Cemetery and the problem about the tree. Judge Austin stated that he did not want any part of the Austin Cemetery. Mr. Masher stated nothing about the tree can be done until spring. He also stated that there are 22 cemeteries in the Town of Queensbury. The list was put together by Dr. Eisenhart and Rod Mosher back when Dr. Eisenhart was a councilman on the Queensbury Town Board. The January 1994 figures: Cemetery- Interments $1600 Lots 1400 Vault 800 Total $3800 Crematory -Cremations $7120 Cardboards 500 Misc. 60 Total $7680 New Business: Chairman reviewed the cost of opening graves and holiday burials. Any grave opened after 3:30 p.m. will be overtime. Mr. Mosher is mailing letters to the funeral homes on this matter. Mr. Mosher also stated that artificial flowers are still being put on graves on Memorial Day which is against the Pine View Cemetery Commission's ruling which was advertised in the Post Star in 1982. This will be addressed at future meetings. There was discussion on veterans' graves. Some veterans' graves have two to three flags on one grave. When Secretary sees this during Memorial Day Holiday, he will make a judgement at the time to either remove marker or flag especially if there is more than one military marker. More on this later. • Mr. Mosher reported that the cremations for January, 1994 are running higher. January shows 45 cremations compared to 26 for 1993. He feels this will be a good year for cremations. There was discussion on rebuilding the Crawford Retort Chamber of the Crematory. Rod has two bids - LVR for$7,500 and Crawford for$14832.70. The members agreed to award the rebuilding of the chamber to the lowest bidder, LVR. Mr. Wiswall spoke about smoke coming out of the crematory. Rod says this happens when they burn wood during the process. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:29a.m..
