The cemeteries of the Town of Queensbury were in fine shape for Memorial Day which
means a great deal to the people of the community.
Mike Lopes is out on disability with a bad back. Gary Grant is picking up the foreman
duties but Rod fears a shorthanded summer. Last year Wayne Merritt worked for the
Cemeteries under a special arrangement having to do with the union. He was a good
worker but we once again have no Labor A in our budget for him to fill. We need
workers now.
The Agway bill was paid late because the vouchers were not returned with a written bill
and Rod does not pay bills until the paper work is correct.
The Commission recommends buying the Hustler Compact tractor, prices were
comparable and the experience with the Hustlers has been excellent. The tractor is in
our budget ($5515 with trade) and needed now. It should have been purchased last
year and much repair money has been spent. The tractors are in constant use at our
cemeteries since mowing continues unless it is too wet.
People like the property near the building and all the remaining land will be made
available and named the Horicon section.
Sweet Road probably is the way to reach the back of Pine View with a new water line.
This should be a budget item for next year. There is a town access road from Sweet
Road which we do not use as an entry.
Sadly, flower thefts continue. There seems to be no way to stop them inspite of visits by
the Sheriffs Patrol.
