05-01-1996 QUEENSBURY CEMETERY COMMISSION MAY 1, 1996 - 9 A.M. PRESENT: Rodney Mosher, Superintendent Commissioners : Sylvia Dougher, Bob Edwards, Terry Higgins Town Historian, Marilyn Van Dyke We received a copy of the Quick Claim Deed to Quaker Cemetery on the corner of Quaker and Bay Roads . The old shrubs around the Bicentennial plaque have been removed. Dr. Van Dyke is going to contact the Wing Memorial Association in Massachusettes to see if they would like to make a donation towards new shrubs . The monies will be coming from the Historian's budget. When the new plantings are in we will reseed the area. Rodney is looking into the expenses of cleaning the bronze plaque and refurbishing the stone.When the new owners of Doyle' s property take over we will make an arrangement with them for upkeep of the grounds . The blinds have not arrived yet. There' s been no word on the flagpole. Sylvia will check with Betty. Summer Youth Job Employment would like to place some youths with us this summer. Due to State budget cuts they would work four days instead of five. We have been receiving some miscellaneous help from Social Services . Dr. Van Dyke will contact Harrisena Church regarding upkeep of the cemetery located there. There have been 48 cremations in April 176 so far this year. The 1996 figures are expected to exceed those of 1995 . There are two new funeral homes in the area. Wilton Funeral Home will be using our facility and Tossing Funeral Home in Rutland is a good possibility. We are stockpiling rich compost from the landfill . Sylvia expressed concern for some of our old maps, particularly Uncas . Copies of these maps are on file at the Town office and Rodney is making Mylar maps . Seven more plots were _sold in Horican this month. Barbara Lemmo is very pleased with the repairs to her gravesite. 1 2. Queensbury Cemetery Commission May 1, 1996 The Commission is very pleased to announce that Rodney Mosher was recently honored to receive the 1995 Alternative Sentencing Award by the Voluntary Action Center.
