06-06-2017 Queensbury Parks and Recreation Commission, Queensbury, NY 12804 Minutes of the June 6, 2017 regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury Chairman Todd Eicher called the meeting to order at 7:03PM 1.) Roll Call: • Present— Todd Eicher, Greg Hewlett, Amanda Mohr, Wendy Matthews, John Mossing, Fran Cabana • Excused: Fran Cabana, Judy Goralski • Staff— Steve Lovering—Director, Lori O'Shaughnessy -Assistant Director, Gary Crossman-Aquatic Director, Jennifer Baertschi-Program Coordinator 2.)Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Hewlett motioned to approve the May 2, 2017 minutes, seconded by Commissioner Mohr, all members approved. 3.) Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies) a) List of Programs held at Queensbury Schools were reviewed b) Post Star Article regarding Occupancy Tax Money c) Resolution accepting $1,750 from Northern United Soccer Club, to be used for new soccer goals at Jenkinsville Park. d) Resolution to authorize hiring 4 relatives of recreation department employees. e) YTD budget report reviewed 4.) Unfinished Business a) Pickleball Courts -ADK Pickleball Club has been formed -Adult/Children Lessons full -Jenkinsville with have 8 courts after tennis court conversion (bid packages to go out next week) b) Expansion of Gurney Lane Mountain Bike Trails approx. 60% complete. Two trails to be open 6/9/2017 if weather permits E20 and Tango, which are expert trails. -Scholastic Mtn Bike Race to be held at Gurney Lane weekend of 6/10-11 c) Hovey Pond- Project approval by DEC d) Rush Pond- Erosion control work being done and tree removal from recent storm e) Gurney Lane Pool Update by Director Steve Lovering/Aquatic Director Gary Crossman -Concrete cleaned with products suggested by installer. -Stainless steel cleaned with gel spray suggested by installer. Still appears to be some bleeding from grout line, could be drainage issue. Commission will be updated as summer proceeds. -Pool to be filled June 12-14. -Repaint/Sandblasting next spring. 5.) New Business • 2017 Summer Program Guide Reviewed by Assistant Director O'Shaughnessy - Reviewed new program guide, registration is up from last year due in part to on-line registration - Reviewed 1 page brochure to go home with children from school CONGRATULATIONS TO DEPARTMENT FOR THE AMOUNT AND QUALITY OF PROGRAMS OFFERED!!! • New park maps being distributed 6.) Committee Reports —None at this time 7.)Additional Information and Reports - None at this time 8.) Adjournment—A motion was made by Commissioner Matthews, seconded by Commissioner Hewlett to adjourn at 7:55 pm all members present approved. 9.) Executive Session Motion made to go into executive session made by Commission Matthews seconded by Commission Eicher at 7:56 to discuss two personal issues.
