Luzern Road from the Glens Falls city line to Mountain Road;
Mountain-Road from the .Corinth Road to the point of county main-
tenance ;
Glen Lake Road from State Highway Route 9 to Bay Road;
Pershing Road from the Glens Falls.,city line to Hughes Court;
Broad Acres Road from the Glens Falls city line to Hughes Court;
Central Avenue from Corinth Road -to Minnesota Avenue ;
Big Bay Road from Corinth Road to Big Boom Road;
Big Boom,-Road from Big Bay .Road to. the. Hudson River.
Section 2. The erection of stop signs on all *town highways which
cross Qr intersect. any of the arterial routes designated in this ordi-
nance is hereby authorized.
Section 3. Any person operating a vehicle on any town highway
which crosses or intersects a main artery of travel as herein designated
shAll, before entering or crossing such main artery of travel , bring
such vehicle to a complete stop unless oth6rwise directed by a peace
officer or signal and shall enter upon or cross such main artery of
travel with caution.
Section 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall- be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof
be*1punishabl6 by a fine not exceeding Fifty Dollars or by imprisonment
not exceeding 30 days or both such fine and imprisonment for each such
offense.

The board convened at 7:30 P.M.
Mr. Clark and Mr*.. Peters were' present and Spoke in reference to meeting
of the Broadacres Association; they also discussed the liability of the
Town and property oomers relating to side walks .
Bart Riordan', Edward Blinn and John Regan of the Glen Lake Association
were present and called on the Board in regard to the railroad crossing.
The matter was referred to the Highway Committee in order to determine
what action has been taken; if none , to see that action is taken.
There was also discussion on widening and straightening the Tee Hill
Road. The straightening of the Glen Lake Road was also discussed.
A discussion was held on the proper method or way to get traffic count.
It was suggested that it might be possible to get a mechanical counter
from the County.
At this Point Mr. Bentley entered the meeting.

The representatives of the Glen Lake Association expressed the appre-
ciation of their members for the_ adoption of an ordinance relating to
power boats on Glen Lake.
Some discussion was had on the discharge of fire arms in populated areas.
The posting of lands was suggested as a possible remedy.
Resolution No. 80 introduced by Councilman Lampson, seconded by Justice
Bentley:
Resolved that the Town of Queensbury accepts as Town Highway all
the lands described in a. dead for that purpose dated July 29, 1955
from Floyd K. Ellsworth and Mabel C. Ellsworth to the ,Town of 7,,ueens-
bury, .subject however to the approval of the County Attorney as to
form,. manner of execution and sufficiency of the instrument of con-
veyance.

Floyd Ellsworth was present and discussed with the Board the source of
water supply, He pointed out that a source of water supply will be
needed in order to develop the property referred to.
Ernest Lackey,, Supt. of Highways ,, entered the meeting at this point.
Fred Chapman who was present discussed the cutting of curve and raising
of road at a point on the Dixon road at the north line of property
owned by him,
Mr. Kreiser was present and discussed drainage near his property and
an area northwest of his place. It was Mr. Kreiser' s contention that it
was a mit'take to include in the drainage district an area without
actual drainage.
Mr. and Mrs. Benford of the Sweet Road requested the installation of
water service. The matter was referred to Mr. Lampson to procure the
necessary pipe.
Resolution No. 81 introduced by Justice Akins seconded by Justice
Bentley:
Resolved that the Town Clerk be and is hereby auth6rized and
directed to advise Waggaman & Collier by 16tter of a d�.ngerous and
hazardous condition existing on property located off Luzern Road
owned by it by reason of exposed drums of highly inflamwble material
being stored thereon.

Gentlemen:
This concerns the posting of speed restrictions established by
the Commission on several Town Highways in the Town of Qu.eensbury,
Marren Cou4ty.
The restrictions are the 30 mph regulations on Garrison and
Fort Amherst Roads and the 35 mph regulations on Dixon.Road, Ashley
Place, Coolidge Avenue , Aviation Road and Upper Sherman--Avenue . An
inspection of the 'posting of the above restrictions indicates that in
no case is a restriction posted in conformance with minimum Commission
standards. It is well to remember that these regulations can not be
considered legally effective until properly posted. The deficiencies
in the posting are outlined for each road below.
Garrison Road T. G. 0. 2/2/54 - 30 mph for 0.6x miles.
There are only 2 signs in place. These are R-5 signs adjacent to
Route US 9 and Route US 4. Our standards call for confirmatory signs
1000 feet beyond the beginning terminal signs. Therefore, additional
R-5 signs (2) must be erected. No R-6 End signs are required since
speed restrictions are in effect on the State Highways.
Fort Amherst Road T.C.O. 2,/2/54 - 30 mph for 0.6x miles.
The existing signs are at the same relative locations as on
Garrison Road. Two additional R-5 confirmatory signs are required to
complete the posting.
Upper Sherman Avenue T.C.O. 1/23153 - 0.38 f of a mile.
The signing of this restriction lacks an R-5 confirmatory sign
facing. eastbound traffic 1000 feet east of the R-5 beginning sign.
Aviation and Dixon Roads T.C.O. - 11/23/54
Aviation Road- - 35 mph for 2.� i miles.
Dixon Road - 35 mph for 0.54 of a mile.
There were no signs in place on Aviation Road at the time of
inspection.
The posting of the restriction on Dixon Road lacks an R-5
confirmatory sign facing eastbound traffic 1000 feet east of the Begin-
ning sign. Although not required by minim= Commission standards , it woul
be desirable to erect an additional L-5 stgn facing eastbound traffic
just east of Ashley Place to advise motorists turning east from Ashley
Place that they are subject to tl"e 35 mph restriction on Dixon Road.
Ashley Place and Coolidge Avenue -, T.C.0. 1113/54 --
35 mph for a combined length of 0.35 of a mile over
both roads .
0nly Begin signs have been erected. One faces southbound traffic
on Ashley glace near Dixon Road and the other faces northwestbound
traffic on Coolidge Avenue near the Glens Falls City line. An R-5
confirmatory sign must be in place facing southbound traffic on Ashley
Place 1000 feet south of the Beginning sign. An R-5 confirmato-:,y sign
must be in place facing northwestbound traffic 1000 feet northwest of
the Beginning sign..

Two copies of each of the 4 orders and of each of the trans-
mittal. letter.s were forwarded to you when the orders were issued. On
3 different occasions full scale prints of the R-5 and R-6 signs were
forwarded... The extra copies of the orders and letters and the full
scale prints were for the information of the Town Superintendent of
Highways . Each of the letters stated where instructions for signing
linear speed restrictions could be found and specifically called your
attention to the fact that the Commission's name must appear at the
bottom of the signs
Only the End sign of the four signs presently in place on Dixon
Road bears the Commission' s name as authority for the speed regula-
tion. Several of the signs in place have been defaced with tar or
black paint.. These signs should be either reconditioned or replaced4
The legend of. authority can undoubtedly be added to all the signs onli
Dixon Road , Ashley Place and Coolidge Avenue where this legend is not
present.
We will appreciate the cooperation of your Board in having the
work required to bring the signing of the above speed restriction up.
to minimum Commission standards . Kindly advise us when the work has
been completed in order that a, further inspection may be scheduled.

Mir. Akins introduced Resolution No. 82 and moved its adoption, , seconded
by Mr. Lampson
,,THEREAS, the town highways and streets in the Town of Queensbury
are generally not adequately marked and it is deemed. advisable for
the convenience of the public and to facilitate the enforcement of
town traffic ordinances that street and highway intersections be
marked if the cost of doing so is not excessive.
RESOLVED that the Town Board invite sealed bids for the sale
and delivery to the Town of Queensbury of 100 standard metal street
signs separately lettered to order, with an alternative bid for ad-
ditional signs in the amounts of 10 or multiples thereof, and further
RESOLVED that the Town Clerk advertise for such bids in accord-
ance vri,th the provisions of the General Municipal Law, reserving to
the Totem Board the right to reject any or all bids, and providing in
the notice to bidders that the bidders specify the particular size and
type of construction of signs and the approximate time required for
manufacture and delivery, thereof.
Further resolved that the Town Board meet on the 17th day of
Sept. 1955, at the Town Clerk' s office at 7:30: P.M. to consider the
bids.

signs and are invited to submit an alternative bid for additional
signs in quantities of 10 or multiples ,thereof.
Bidders are required to specify the size , material and type of
construction of the suns and are urged to submit a sample with the
bid,. and to state approximate time required for manufacture and delivery.
Bids will be received by Frances L. Turner, Town Clerk, at her

Queensbury is in need of a Town Hall for use by Town officers and the
"more efficient carrying on of the official business of the town, and
the Town Board some years ago established a capital reserve fund toward
_ the cost of such Town Hall, and
WHEREAS,, the rapid growth of population, homes and business in
the Town. of Queensbury during recent years has made the need for a
Town Hall more acute!
RESOLVED that the Town of Queensbury retain Milton L. Crandell
of Glens Falls , as architect to prepare plans and specifications for a

Town Hall under the general direction of the Town Board,. and further
RESOLVED'that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized
on behalf of the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury to execute a
contract with Milton L. Crandell to. carry the foregoing into effect.
