UNFINISHED BUSINESS Faith Bible Church ProDertv Acauisition The commission received an update on the status of the sale of the former Camp Jadamada property by the Faith Bible Church organization to the Open Space Institute (OSI). Negotiations between the two organizations have been ongoing since 1995 and were recently finalized. OSI agreed to purchase approximately 68 acres excluding two cemetery sites and 20 acres currently occupied by the church. OSI intends to deed the property to the town/department after an unspecified period of time. The site is ideally situated between two town owned parcels and has the potential to be developed as a passive/active recreation area. The director relayed that the Town Board has scheduled a special workshop meeting with Dan Luciano (OSI representative) on Monday, April 30th to discuss the property and the subsequent management agreement. All commissioners were invited to attend and the director will be in attendance to represent the department/commission. NEW BU$INESS The Fiver Swim Proaram Chairman Simmonds highlighted the recent meeting with School Superintendent Dr. Lomanto concerning the Flyers and their request to the School Board for additional school pool time. She explained that the Dr. Lomanto was hopeful that the Flyers and the commission/department could remedy the ongoing dilemma with regard to pool usage. She mentioned that a possible solution voiced at the meeting was that the Flyers become a program under town/department control. Although there might be coordination issues, it was the consensus that these could be rectified through mutual agreement. She pointed out that a meeting to discuss the possibility (department control) had been tentatively scheduled for late April. The director relayed some of the past and present history involving the department and the Flyers and there was discussion on the need for an additional pool facility in the community. After further discussion, the commission agreed that the first step was a meeting with both organizations to discuss possible options. Additional items of discussion included expanding the summer program brochure, the winter season-pool attendance comparison chart and an update of the department's seasonal staff hiring. There being no further business, the commission meeting was adjourned at 8:22 a.m. The next meeting will be held on May 1, 2001 at 7:30 a.m. in the Supervisor's Conference Room (#37), at the Queensbury Town Office Building. ~~~ , Sharron Simmon s, Chairman Minutes prepared by Harry R.
