2011-11-01 Queensbury Parks and Recreation Commission Queensbury, NY Minutes of the November 1, 2011 regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference Room Chairman LaBombard called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm Roll Call: • Present—Conboy, Fusco, LaBombard, Mott, Matthews, • Excused-- White • Staff—Director Lovering, , Members of Department's Administrative Staff(Lori, Jen, Gary) • Guests—Judy Goralski Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Mott, seconded by Commissioner Matthews, to approve the minutes from the October 4, 2011 meeting. Chairman LaBombard commented on the trail damage. Crew did a good job cleaning up. All members present approved. Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies) • Monthly Correspondence • E-mail from John Corcoran to Director Lovering regarding trails at Gurney Lane with response by Director Lovering • E-mail from Lynne Michaels to Director Lovering regarding terrific job on brochure and alternate ways of receiving this information with response by Director Lovering • E-mail from Dave Hodgson regarding Hudson Pointe misuse by ATV's and dirt bikes with response by Director Lovering • Budget Control Report as of 10.28.11—brief discussion • Document with terms of office of current Commissioners distributed • 2012 Commission Meeting dates—election day 2012 will not be a meeting date • Employee Roster for Winter 2011-2012--distributed Unfinished Business • Discussion of 2012 Park projects—thumbnail picture of recommendations for certain maintenance projects for 2012 (see file for documentation of recommendations) • Luzerne Road Property acquisition—contacted by realtor, property has cash buyer for more than appraisal, therefore not an purchase option for us New Business • 2012 Fall/Winter/Spring brochure highlights-kudos to Steve, Lori and staff for a great brochure with an abundance of programs for our community to choose from • 2011 Summer Programs—Registration and Revenue report(see file for documentation) • Summer Youth total registration-3067 • Total adult-1234 • Total Family-793 • Total Registration for 2011 Summer programs-5094 which is a 5%increase over 2010 • Total 2011 Summer program revenues--$161,670.00 • Supervisor/Commissioner meeting will take place on November 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm Committee Reports • Budget Review • Safe and Quality Cycling—Commissioner Mott reported on past two years of accomplishments—this committee is becoming a vital and active committee • ByLaws • School Liaison • Personnel • Planning • Program Review Additional Information and/or reports—new sign at Ridge-Jenkinsville, 2 students who were employed by the department receiving recognition in local paper, article on the Clendon Brook Preserve hiking trail. Adjournment—a motion was made by Commissioner Conboy, seconded by Commissioner Matthews,to adjourn the meeting at 8:52 pm. All members present approved.
