2011-09-26 Queensbury Parks and Recreation Commission Queensbury, NY Minutes of the September 6, 2011 regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference Room Chairman LaBombard called the meeting to order at 7:08 pm Roll Call: Present—Conboy, Fusco, Mott, Mathews, LaBombard, • Excused—White • Staff—Director Lovering • Guests— Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Mott, seconded by Commissioner Matthews, to approve the minutes from the July 26, 2011 meeting. All members present approved. Communications and remarks from visitors: • Monthly Correspondence: (see file for copies) 1. Documents relating to request for Occupancy Tax funds (see file) 2. Documents relating to Hudson River Park vandalism cost and payments 3. Copy of e-mail and letter from Eric Catalano to Director Lovering and Ken Santucci regarding removal of storage facility and other items related to rowing club at Hudson River Park 4. Copy of letter from Assistant Director O'Shaughnessy to Queensbury Central Volunteer Fire Company thanking them for assistance and cooperation with the Hovey Pond Party in the Part event. • Budget Control Report as of 8/30/11—brief discussion regarding availability of funds for remainder of year. • Employee Roster as of 8/20/2011 Unfinished Business • Queensbury Rowing Group—no further discussion on this topic at this time. • Supervisor/Commission Meeting which took place on August 2, 2011. Agenda consisted of budget discussion, Queensbury Rowing Club, Park vandalism, reimbursement of 2011 budget expenses and operating concessions vs. change in Town Code. This meeting, as well as others with the Supervisor, was very productive. • Meadowbrook Preserve—parking area completed at no cost by the highway department, signage up and very impressive, trail development accomplished at no additional cost by maintenance staff. Total expenditure to date is $13, 825.00. New Business • 2012 Department Budget—discussion, see file for documentation on numbers and year to year comparisons. 2012 budget is $740,150 which is a reduction of$29,284 from 2011. • Recreation Commission Opening—Commission members encouraged to continue searching for qualified candidates.
