2012-02-07 Queensbury Parks and Recreation Commission Queensbury, NY Minutes of the February 7, 2012 regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference Room Vice Chairman Mott called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm Roll Call: • Present— Fusco, Goralski, Matthews, Mott,White • Excused--Conboy • Staff—Director Lovering,Assistant Director Lori O'Shaughnessy, and Jen Baertschi • Guests— none Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Matthews, seconded by Commissioner Goralski,to approve the minutes from the January 3, 2012 meeting. All members present approved. Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies) • Monthly Correspondence • Photo of fourth grade class enjoying a day at Gurney Lane Recreation Area—an example of the many school groups using this facility • E-mail from Roxanne Westcott on her family enjoyment of Meadowbrook Reserve Trail • E-mail from Director Lovering to Lacrosse people regarding schedules for 2012 • Budget Control Report as of 02/01/2012 (Year-end report) • Employee Roster for winter 2011-2012 • Review of current Commission Committees and reminder of March election of officers Unfinished Business • Update on proposed new Jenkinsville Maintenance Building by Director Lovering, specifically the costs and source of funds. Project will be presented to the Town Board on Monday, February 131H • Update on Hovey Pond Sculpture donation—Contacted Friends of Hovey Pond to get an opinion,will wait to hear what their thoughts are. Commission members are not too keen on receiving this donation. There may be safety issues with children climbing on this metal sculpture. New Business • Discussion of User fees at Jenkinsville Park—with explanations of costs associated with maintenance. There is a lot of mixed feelings about a user fee structure. A motion was made by Commissioner Matthews to keep fee structure as is for 2012. Seconded by Commissioner Goralski. All members present approved. • Discussion of opening for Recreation Commission due to Jack LaBombard retirement—letter of interest should be sent to Supervisor Stec by anyone interested in applying. Committee Reports • Budget Review • Safe and Quality Cycling—Commissioner Mott reported the group has had successful fund raising to support programs, plus a growing interest in membership • By-laws • School Liaison • Personnel • Planning • Program Review Additional Information and/or reports(see file for complete report) • Property inventory Listing as of 2012 • Revenue Comparison data from 2007 thru January 2012 • Yearly scholarship totals for past six years Adjournment—a motion was made by Commissioner Goralski, seconded by Commissioner White,to adjourn the meeting at 8:33 pm.
