1985-06-24 .. ,;-' ,i QUEENS BURY RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF MEETING JUNE 24, 1985 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury, held Monday, June 24, 1985 at the Queensbury Town Office Building, Queensbury, New York. Chairperson Little called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m. PRESENT: Commissioners B1y, Granger, LaBombard, Little, Lemery, Martin, Teti, Supervisor Walter, Councilwoman Monahan and Director Hansen ABSENT: None VISITORS: Chris Bergeron, Playground Coordinator APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Director advised the Commission that the minutes of the previous meeting were not yet available but would be to the typist shortly. It was suggested by the Commission that the minutes of each previous meeting be typed and distributed as soon as possible after the meeting so that the Commission and the Town Board could review them more thoroughly. The Director agreed that this could be done for all future meetings. COMMUNICATIONS The Director introduced Chris Bergeron, who will work as the Playground Coordinator this summer and Chairperson Little welcomed her on behalf of the Recreation Commission. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The Director temporarily assumed the position of Chairman and requested nominations for the positions of Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Recreation Commission for the one year period, April 1985 - Mðrch 1986. Commissioner Lemery nominated Commissioner Little as Chairman and it was seconded by Commissioner Teti. There being no further nominations, the nominations were closed and Commissioner Little was unanimously elected. Commissioner Bly nominated Commissioner Granger for the position of Vice-Chairman and it was seconded by Commissioner Teti and unanimous- ly approved after no further nominations. / DIRECTOR'S REPORT The Commission was updated regarding the summer programs, most of which will begin this week. Chris Bergeron highlighted the play- ground training institute which was conducted all day today and there were some questions regarding playground equipment and the sign lo- cation at Queensbury School. The Commission questioned the security of the playground boxes/ equipment and suggested that the arts and crafts supplies be distributed piece-meal rather than all at once. The Commission discussed weekly visits to all summer activity locations to better evaluate programs and improve the services provided. The Commission set up a schedule for all members to visit the playground sites. The Director updated the Commission regarding staff personnel arid reviewed all the programs which were scheduled to begin this week. There were questions regarding the summer program brochure, the training manual and the summer trip schedule. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned to ex- ecutive session to discuss personnel. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 22, 1985 at 7:30 p.m.
