QUEENS BURY RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MEETING
SEPTEMBER 28, 1981
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission
of the Town of Queensbury, held MOnday, September 28, 1981, at
the Queensbury Town Office Building, Queensbury, New York.
Chairman Yasko called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Mrs. Lin Boecher, Mrs. Sue Marquis and Mr.Steve
Borgos (all representing the Queensbury Little League)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Roop moves to approve the minutes of the
August 24, 1981 meeting. Commissioner Bly seconded the motion
which was unanimously approved.
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE:
The Director introduced the three representatives from the
Queensbury Little League who were present to request financial
assistance from the Recreation Department. Mrs. Boecher read
a prepared memo and briefly discussed the attached Little
League 1982 Budget. It was explained that the Little League
is in need of capital improvements at their fields including
the construction of bleachers, a snack bar and restroom .
facilities. The Little League's operating budget is not
adequate enough to provide these services and therefore,
League representatives were seeking the Recreation Commission's
endorsement of their request for assistance from the Town of
Queensbury. After much discussion, Commissioner Roop moved
to strongly endorse the Little League's request and directed
the Commission Chairman to write a letter to the Town Board
stating the same. Chairman Yasko seconded the motion which
was approved by a 2 to 1 vote (Commdssioner Bly voted no.).
Dan MOrrell on behalf of the Town Board suggested that the
Little League representatives make a appointment to speak to
the Town Board in October at which time the question of
financial assistance could be discussed.
The Director briefly reviewed the 3 letters received
from residents praising a number of summer programs and the
individuals who supervised them.

The Commission also discussed the Director's intention to
allow cross-country skiing at Gurney Lane this winter and here
again the Commission members thought this program was ideal and
that it would make better use of Town facilities that heretofore
were usually closed all winter. The Commission recommended
that the department check and mark out the proposed ski trails
in the fall to insure that there were no hazards present and
the Director concurred.
The Recreation Commission adjourned to executive session
to discuss personnel matters. Returning to open session and
there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at
9:15 P.M. The next meeting will be held on Monday, October
26, 1981.
