ChairIJlan Lyon called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. PRESENT: Commissioners Bly, Champagne, Lavigne, Lyon, Yasko and Director Hansen. ABSENT: Commissioners Howe, Roop (ex.) VISITORS: Dan Morrell (Town Board) - Jay Levy (Community League) APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Following review, Commissioner Champagne moved to approve the minutes of the November 24, 1980 meeting. Commissioner Bly seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved. COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE: Chairman Lyon introduced Mr. Jay Levy, representing the Queensbury Community League, who was present to answer questions concerning his organization's request for funding assistance~ Mr. Levy briefly outlined the history and growth of the Community League and explained the present need for facility expansion and improvements due to in- creased participation. He explained the letter from Niagara Mohawk which detailed the anticipated cost to supply electrical service to the League fields located behind the Queensbury Elementary School. The Recreation Commission expressed concern over the accuracy of the estimated cost for the trenching portion of the electrical service. The concensus was that the $1,300.00 estimate was high and additional ways to cut the total electrical cost should be investigated. Overall, the Recreation Commission endorsed and supported the Community League program, however, before any assistance was granted, more information especially from Niagara Mohawk, would have to be provided. It was suggested that a Community League representative meet with representatives from the School District, Niagara Mohawk and the Queensbury Recreation Department to determine more precise facts and figures regarding the installation of electrical service. Mr. Levy assured the Commission that he would be in contact with the individuals mentioned to set up a meeting as soon as possible. RECREATION MINUTES CONT'D. PAGE 2 SPORTS ACCIDENT POLICY INVESTIGATION: The Director explained the letter received from Peg Fish, (Cool Insurance Agency) which detailed the estimated annual cost of a sports accident policy for the Queensbury Recreation Department. After some discussion, the concensus was that such a policy was far too expensive to consider at this time. Dan Morrell, speaking on behalf of the Town Board, expressed doubt that the Board would ever consider such a policy, in light of the present Town liability coverage and due to Recreation Department programs being voluntary participation activities. MEETING DATES FOR 1981: The Commission reviewed and adopted the schedule of Recreation Commission meeting dates for 1981. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: The Director's Report was reviewed and after some discussion concerning winter programs the report was approved. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:27 P.M. The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 26, 1981.
