QUEENSBURY RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MEETING
August 27, 1979
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of
the Town of Queensbury, held Monday, August 27, 1979 at the Queensbury
Town Office Building, Queensbury, New York. Chairman Lyon called the
meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Present: Commissioners Howe, Lavigne, Lyon, Roop,Yasko
Director Hansen
Absent: Commissioners Bly, Champagne
Visitors: J. Wilkin, (Post Star)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Following review, Commissioner Howe moved to approve the minutes
of the July 23, 1979 meeting. Commissioner Roop seconded the motion
which was unanimously approved.
COMMUNICATIONS/CORRESPONDENCE
None
GURNEY LANE.... UPDATE
The Director advised the Commissioners concerning the status
of Gurney Lane. The filter/ piping problems have all been repaired
as of July 27. And since that date, there have been no further
difficulties.
RECREATION DEPARTMENT BUDGET
The Recreation Department tentative budget for 1980 has been
compæ~ted and the Director requested a special meeting to review the
budget before it is presented to the Supervisor. A budget review
committee consisting of Commissioners; Champagne, Lavigne and Roop
were nominated and will meet and review the budget with the Director
on Tuesday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Office Building.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The Commission reviewed the Director's Report and were told that
the majority of programs have ended for the summer. Gurney Lane remains
open on a seven day basis until Labor Day at which time the picnic
facilities will be available on weekends until the end of September.
Many staff evaluations and participation evaluations have been received
and will undoubtedly make the year-end analysis of the total 1979
summer program by the Recreation Director more effective.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Upon the Director's suggestion, the Commission adjourned to Executive
Session at 8:00 p.m. to discuss possible land acquisition.

Returning to open session and being no further business, the
meeting was adjourned at 8:47 p.m. The next meeting will be held
on Monday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m.
