2012-06-05 Queensbury Recreation Commission Queensbury, NY Minutes of the June 5, 2012 regular meeting of the Recreation Commission of the Town of Queensbury held at the Town of Queensbury Supervisor's Conference Room Chair Pro Tern Fusco called the meeting to order at 7:03pm Roll Call: • Present— Fusco, Goralski, Hewlett, Matthews • Excused— Mott, Switzer, White • Staff—Director Lovering,Assistant Director Lori O'Shaughnessy • Guests—None Approval of Minutes: It was moved by Commissioner Goralski, seconded by Commissioner Matthews„to approve the minutes from the May 1, 2012 meeting. All members present approved. Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies) • Monthly Correspondence • Letter from Jennifer S. Switzer requesting consideration in becoming a member of the Recreation Commission • Copy of Resolution of Town Board appointing Jennifer Switzer to Recreation Commission • Copy of Memo to Town Board requesting funding for maintenance work at two of our area parks totaling$31,000, and copies of intended resolutions authorizing these expenditures • Letter to High School Principal Orr from Director Lovering thanking her for her assistance with volunteer members of 2012 Senior Class in performing park clean up at Gurney Lane • Budget Control Report as of 06/01/2012 reviewed • Monthly meeting schedule for the Commission reviewed along with revised membership list and committee assignments Unfinished Busines • Update on proposed new Jenkinsville Maintenance Building by Director Lovering--Meeting took place between Director Lovering, Contractor, and Architect to discuss construction particulars. Town needs to review contract and sign in order for project to commence • Sub-division fee increase update—Supervisor is supportive of proposal and will submit to Town Board following established procedure for changing Town Law. Director Lovering will put together info for Town Board to consider in order to implement the sub-division fee New Business • Summer Brochure—Great job by Lori, Steve and staff in putting together this brochure with wonderful, and an abundance of program opportunities for our community • Park Repair Projects—reviewed (Gurney Lane and Freedom Park) • Supervisor/Commission Meeting—agenda items discussed Committee Reports • Budget Review • Safe and Quality Cycling • School Liaison • Personnel • Planning • Program Review Additional Information and/or reports(see file for complete report) • Revenue comparison data by year 2007 through May 2012 reviewed • Assessment comparison data by year 2005 through May 2012 reviewed Adjournment—a motion was made by Commissioner Matthews, seconded by Commissioner Hewlett,to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 pm.
