DISCUSSION: QUEENSBURY CENTRAL VOLUNTEER FIRE CO. REGARDING
VEHICLE PURCHASE
QUEENSBURY CENTRAL TREASURER, CHRIS HICKEY-Explained that they have a vehicle that needs
to be replaced. After looking at the structure of their fleet,proposing to replace Rescue 116 and Pumper 317
with a new engine-rescue. He reviewed for the Board their current truck inventory, as well as the financial
aspects of purchasing a new truck.
TRUCK COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN, CRAIG FRIARS- Spoke regarding the manufacturers they have been
in contact with regarding the new truck.
DEPUTY SUPERVISOR STROUGH-How is this purchase going to affect their budget?
MR.HICKEY-Not at all. Is there a need for a public hearing?
COUNCILMAN BREWER- There has to be a public hearing because you are incurring debt.
1ST ASSISTANT CHIEF,JOE DUPREY-Reviewed the many issues they are having with Rescue 116 and
why it needs to be replaced.
DEPUTY SUPERVISOR STROUGH-Will speak to Budget Officer, Barbara Tierney to see if the current
information presented by the Fire Company is sufficient to set a public hearing, and then get back to Mr.
Hickey. Explained that he is on board with this since what they are proposing is not going to affect their
budget, and is the best thing for the department and public safety.
MR. HICKEY-Will have drawings and specks tomorrow.
COUNCILMAN BREWER-Asked them to look into tax exempt financing.
DEPUTY SUPERVISOR STROUGH-will call Mr.Hickey with the information needed for a resolution.
