01-04-1995 PINE VIEW CEMETERY COMMISSION
January 4, 1995
9:00am
Present: Dougher, Edwards, Prime and Supt. Mosher
The tree work is finally being done. Since this began in 1994, no money needs to be
encumbered. The road light has, also, been replaced.
Rod reports 6" of frost at this time; snow would help to keep this at a reasonable depth.
Two funeral homes will be using our cremation services for the first time: Mac Shane in
Poultny, VT. and Conrey in Ticonderoga. This should raise the number of cremations a
small amount over the 470 done in 1994. There were 155 regular burials in 1994 which
is approximately the same as the year before.
The duck problem at the pond is getting worse with hundreds of the birds gathering
there and causing pollution. Rod will contact DEC for suggestions and put up a "DO
NOT FEED THE DUCKS" sign. The staff will then try to enforce the feeding ban.
Rod received approval for the Hydraulic snowblower which attaches to the Case tractor.
The shrubs and plaque in front of Doyle's marking the Quaker Cemetery do not look
very good. The shrubs seem to have been crudely cut back and the marker seems
shabby. Sylvia will speak to our Town Historian, Marilyn Van Dyke, about the site and
Rod will contact Mark Reagan.
