ORGANIZATION MEETING OF THE TOWN OF QUEENSBURY
CEMETARY COMMISSION
First official meeting of the Town of Queensbury Cemetary
Commission called to order at 7:30 P.M. at Bullard, Regan &
Stafford Funeral Home, 341 Glen Street Glens Falls. All
Commissioners present; Mr. Joseph F. Regan, Mr. Sidney Van
Dusen, and Mr. Frank L. Cowles, Jr.
Upon motion and vote the following officers were duly
elected: Chairman, Joseph F. Regan; Secretary, Sidney Van
Dusen; Treasurer, Frank L. Cowles, Jr.
A discussion was held on the purchase of a 1937 International
Dump truck, owned by Earl T. Carswell & Co. , and a power lawn
mower owned by the Doyle Seed Store. It was voted by the
commissioners to purchase above truck for $550.00 and the power
mower for $190.00.
A general discussion of the deed and rules for ownership of
Cemetary lots was held and several changes and additions suggested,
and the Secretary was instructed to return copies to the County
Attorney for revision and correction.
The secretary was authorized to order a new seal for use on
Deeds and official document of the Cemetary Commission.
The following members of the Town of Queensbury Town Board
were in attendance at this meeting; Supervisor, H. Russell Harris,
Justice of the Peace, Meredith Bentley, and Councilman Curtis
Lampson and Raymond alkup. -
Mountainside Grange was granted permission to clean and care
for the Jenkins Cemetary, Scotch Cemetary and the Sunnyside
Cemetary for the sum of $250.00.
• Councilman Lampson, speaking in behalf of the West Glens
Falls Fire Company requested and was granted permission for said
Fire Company to clean and care for the West Glens Falls Cemetary
and the Mt. Herman Cemetary for the sum of $200.00.
The Commission adopted the following rates for digging of
graves in the Pine View Cemetary: Metal box, leaving dirt at
side of grave $15.00; Metal box, removing dirt:"for- funeral and
replacing it $25.00; Wooden box, $35.00. The additional amount
for using a wooden box being necessary to fill sunken graves
which occur when such boxes are used.
It was decided to have regular monthly meetings of the
Cemetary Commission on the third Wednesday evening of each
month.
Next meeting to be regular monthly meeting on May 19, 1948.
