The following notes shall be amended to the above referenced project:
1. Mechanical ventilation will be required per the New York State Building Code. The mechanical
ventilation rate must be greater than 0.35 air changes per hour. To calculate the number of air
changes per hour, the formula below can be used:
L #of air changes/hour= unit ventilation rate (CFM)*60 minutes/volume of the
room
1. The volume of the room is equal to 7,200 cubic feet
a. Therefore the minimum CFM ventilation rate for the unit being
purchased must be greater than 42 CFM.
2. Suggested manufactures and models could be:
a. Life Breathe Residential Ventilation—HR, max series, 60-76
CFM
b. E-Z Breathe Basement system, 138 CFM
2. Spray foam insulation will be utilized between the roof rafters instead of the fiberglass batt
insulation. Approximately 9%" inches of foam insulation will be installed and will be expected
to produce a R-value of 38.

The following notes shall be amended to the above referenced project:
1. The REScheck document has been revised using R30 batt insulation. The REScheck document
was generated using the entire house envelop due to the 10'x26'addition by itself would not
meet the building code due to the high%of glass(new/existing)versus new wall area.
2. The ceiling insulation system has been changed from R-38 to R-30 batt insulation with a vapor
barrier and proper vent.
3. Ice&water shield shall be applied to all eaves. This protective membrane shall extend from the
eave's edge to a point at least 24"inside the exterior wall line of the building.
4. The maximum height of the deck of above the finished grade shall not be greater than 30".
5. The curb around the new loft area is not an open space. See attached sketch for details.
6. The new addition shall be air sealed. All cracks and penetrations shall be sealed against air
infiltration into the building envelop.
7. All new lighting fixtures are to be LED or Compact Fluorescent fixtures.
8. The new loft area is included in the light and ventilation calculations for the great room.
9. vrle for the new addition windows&doors is attached. Light/ventilation and
