HVV is authorized by the New York State Department of Labor under license # 05-0220 to perform asbestos inspections, sample collection and surveys. Samples of each type of suspected asbestos containing material (SACH) were collected. All samples were collected by a NYSDOL licensed Class D Inspector, in accordance with 12 NYCRR Part 56 (referred to as Industrial Code Rule 56)and 29 CFR Part 1910. The sampling was conducted on July 6,2015. A copy of the NYSDOL Asbestos license is attached to this letter. Methods Prior to initiating sampling, an on-site walk through inspection of the building was performed in accordance with Subpart 56-5(e) of 12 NYCRR Part 56. Building plans were not available for review. Based on the site inspection, sampling of materials was performed to evaluate for suspect asbestos containing materials(SACM). Bulk samples were collected following standard sampling procedures. The samples were placed in double sealed sample bags and delivered by Federal Express to EMSL Analytical for analysis under formal chain of custody procedures. Friable type materials were analyzed by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) via the NY State ELAP 198.1 method. Non-organically bound(NOB)materials were analyzed by PLM via NYS method 198.6 NOB. If the NYS method 198.6 NOB was inconclusive,the NOB materials were then analyzed by transient electron microscopy(TEM)via NYS method 198.4 NOB. Inspection Results—980 State Route 9Queensbury-,NY The inspection revealed a single story commercial structure with a partial basement. The first floor level contains approximately 3432 square feet. The partial basement contains approximately 1144 square feet. The building was constructed in two phases. The older northern section was constructed on a concrete slab. The building was of concrete block construction, with EPDM roofing. The interior construction consisted of vinyl floor tiles, drywall walls, and acoustic ceiling tiles. Windows throughout the building were of the modern non-glazed type construction. Suspect ACM materials identified in the building included sheet vinyl flooring,mastic associated with the flooring, floor leveling compound, drywall,joint compound, ceiling tiles, and EPDM roofing material. Bulk samples were collected of the sheet vinyl flooring,mastic associated with the flooring,floor leveling compound,drywall,joint compound,ceiling tiles,and EPDM roofing material. Asbestos Containing Material Sananline Results Forty-eight samples of suspected ACM were collected from the commercial building at 980 Route 9 in Queensbury, NY. The interior of the building was divided into three separate fiunctional spaces (sampling areas) based on probable date of construction. Samples S-1 through S-5 were collected from the new section of the building, samples S-6 through S-10 were collected in the .finished basement, and samples S-11 through S-16 were collected in the older portion of the building. Sample S-17 was the roofing material sample. The samples collected represented a minimum of three samples of each type of suspected asbestos containing materials. The results and sampling locations are summarized on Table 1. No asbestos was identified in any of the representative samples collected from the structure.
