Gentlemen,
In the interest of better community relations and safety, I am
writing to suggest that "No-Parking" signs be erected on the north
side of Highland Ave» .zfrom the intersection of Quaker wester,ly_.. 3-QO
feet (aprox opposite my west property line) .
A1so , I feel it would be a safety factor to prohibit parking on
Quaker Rd : within 100 feet of the Highland intersection from both
directions.
I now have adaquate off r6-ad parking for my customers and I am
increasing the area steadily.
Thank you for your consideration.

RE: Kleenaire Recycling Systems ,Inc
Dear John:
I am hopeful that the Town Board continues its interest in our ?vo-
posed incinerator project for the Town of Queensbury.
Our company intends to make application to the federal government
for a grant under the Environmental Act. Apparently, under a "demonstration
clause,'! the government will advance funds to our company to construct an
incinerator for public purposes. The government apparently uses the
project, in its initial stages, for demonstration purposes to determine
whether -such projects could be feasibly introduced throughout the country.
The incinerator ultimately becomes the property of the Town and, apparently,
at no cost to the Town.
If you feel the Town Board desires to pursue such a project, I would
appreciate your taking this up with your fellow members. Our application
will require a, letter from tPja Town Board to the effect that you indicate
an interest in our incinerator and that it would, to anlarge extent, solve
your landfill problems.
Should you require any additional information concerning this matter,
please advise and I would be happy to meet with members of the Board at
your convenience.
Very truly yours ,
/s/

AT A MAXIMUM COST OF 40,000.

-Water Dept. report
August 9, 1973
Queensbury Town Board; Mr. John Austin, Supervisor
Gentlemen;
In recent weeks this department has received an increased number
of consumer complaints pertaining to water quality and/or discolored
water.
This discoloration problem is primarily the result of the oxidation
and precipation of soluable iron in the water. The intensity of this
problem depends upon the iron content of the water.
At present we are depending on three sources of water supply. (1)
our original wells, (2) Civil Defense equipment on Rush Pond and (3) the
newly installed well point system.
The iron content of the original wells varies between .5 and 1. 0 parts
per million, depending on how hard the wells are pumped. The iron con-
tent of the water from Rush Pond is .25 PPM. The water from the well
point system has the high dst iron content, 2.4 parts per million.
Due to the demand on the water system at the present time, it is
necessary to operate all of the systems to meet our consumer demands.
We presently treat our water from all three systems with a triple
phosphate treatment to sequester the soluable iron but after a period
of time this treatment allows the iron to precipitate out of the sol-
ution. In addition, the water from the Rush Pond is filtered thru Civil
Defense filtration equipment.
Normally, during times of low comsumer demands, the resulting low
flows in the mains do not distrub this precipitated iron from the bottom
of the pipe. With the event of warm weather and additional water con-
sumption, the higher flows of water in the mains tend to distrub the
dettled iron and cause the objectionable yellow water.
The spring flushing of water mains helpsto lessen the problem of
discolored water. However, this year due to the higher water consump-
tion and the limitaiton of our supply, we have been unable to complete
this maintenance program.
In order to provide relief for the problem of discolored water,
it is my intention to:
1. Complete a flushing program at all mains as soon as con-
sumer demand will allow which will probably be early Fall.
2. Take advantage of the water sources with the lowest
iron content as much as possible.
3. We are presently investigating additional treatment to
reduce the iron problem.
Thanking you for your time and attention to the matter herein, I
remain,
Sincerely,
/s/
Thomas K. Flaherty
