R. Bard Nitrogen Tank and Generator Final Inspection Town Permit CC-000607-2017 Gentlemen: I visited the site on November 7, 2018 and completed a walkthrough of the Nitrogen Tank and Generator installation construction. All equipment associated with the Nitrogen Tank (nitrogen tank, vaporizer, and regulator stand) were properly anchored to the concrete foundation pad as per equipment supplier requirements. The fuel storage base tank supporting the generator was not anchored to the concrete pad at this time — in discussion with the contractor, the job is not complete. We were told by the contractor that anchors will be installed even though the generator equipment drawing and the structural foundation drawing does not specify anchorage. The work was complete and constructed as per the plans and specifications developed by Haanen Engineering. Attached, find concrete testing reports. If questions arise with the above information, please contact me at (518) 793-7444 extension 19. Cryogenic vessels are Nonbuilding structures not similar to buildings. ASCE 7-05 Chapter 15 provides requirements for the design of nonbuilding structures not similar to buildings. Specific types of nonbuilding structures are listed in Table 15.4-2 with their associated parameters. Leg supported vertical vessels are classified as "Elevated tanks, vessels, bins, or hoppers: On unbraced legs, or asymmetrically braced legs (not similar to buildings). Saddle supported horizontal vessels are classified as "Horizontal, saddle supported welded steel vessels". ASCE 7-05 Section 15.7.13 specifically states that the seismic design of tanks and vessels storing refrigerated liquids is beyond the scope of Chapter 15 and refers to additional references listed in Chapter 23. However, Chapter 23 does not provide specific guidance for refrigerated liquids. In lieu of more specific requirements this manufacturer has elected to apply the requirements of Sections 15.7 and 15.7.11. References beginning with 16 refer to IBC 2006/CBC 2007 Chapter 16. References beginning with 16 and having a reference to"A" as in 1605A refer to CBC 2007 Chapter 16A. Other references are according to ASCE 7-05.
