Thank you Ed Waters MOHICAN GRANGE No. 1300 Oneida Corners Glens Falls, N.Y. Dec. 41 1969. To the Honorable Town Board Town of Queensbury, N. Y. Gentlemen: 4 This is an urgent renuest for help from you. The intersection in front of Mohican Grange Hall has become a very busy place. Both vehicles and pedestrians use it at all hours. The one street light on Ridge Rd. 9L does a good job of lighting that side but the Sunnyside Road gets very little benefit. Our Grange is being used nearly every night by the Grange, the Later Day Saints Church, the Queensbury American Legion and its Auxillary. This means many people cross over to the Store and back. Children play on or near the corner. In addition to the above, the main exit for the Bay Ridge Fire Company, the Oneida Church and the Grange all come out on the Sunnyside Road across the Grange property. Our Grange has voted to reouest you to install a street light on the pole directly in front of the Grange Hall. This will light the intersection and make conditions much safer on the corner. Many residents and users of this area will be safer and happier because of this service. --° Respectfully yours, H. Russell Harris Ch. Legislative Comm. Mohican Grange Mr. H. Russell Harris discussed the problem of lack of street lighting and also advanced his opinion as to the location of the proposed street light. The following communications were received and read aloud by the clerk. Adirondack Girl Scout Council, Inc. Mr. Jerry Solomon: Thank you for taking us on a tour of Town Hall. The tour helped us earn the badge Active Citizen. It helped us to learn what the people in Town Hall do and helped us learn more about the Town of Queensbury. Thank you very much Girl Scout Troup 170 December 1, 1969 Gerald Solomon, Queensbury Supervisor Members of the Queensbury Town Board. Gentlemen; Please accept my application for we-appointment to the office of Assessor for two years, beginning January 1, 1970 thru December 31, 1971. Thank you. Yours truly Warren T. Varney December 10, 1969 Queensbury Town Board: I hereby submit my application for the position of Assessor in the Town of Queensbury for a two-year term from January 1, 1970 to December 31, 1971. I have served the Town in this capacity for a ten-year period ending this December elst, 1969 with approximately seven of the ten years as Board Chairman. I have attended most of the training programs offered by the State Board of Equalization and Assessments in cooperation with the New York State Assessors Association. I have been in the real estate business on a part-time basis for about six years, first as a salesman, and more recently, March 1969, as a broker. Time permitting, I have done some private appraisal work. I have been appointed to two condemnation appraisal commissions which meet periodically and at the present time I am serving the Warren County Assessors Association as its Secretary & Treasurer. I have served the Association in this capacity for five of the ten -. years that I have been a member. My membership in the State Assoc- iation covers a like period. If appointed to this position I will continue to discharge the duties of this office as I have in the past with a deep dedication to provide equal treatment to my constituents and in a manner creditable to Town Government. Your consideration in this matter will be appreciated. Respectfully submitted Leon Nassivera R. D. #1 Glens Falls, New York December 11, 1969 Queensbury Town Board Queensbury Town Office Building Bay & Haviland Road, R.D. #1 Glens Falls, New York Gentlemen: I would like to submit my application for reappointment as Receiver of Taxes and Assessments for the Town of Queensbury. Your consideration of my application will be appreciated. Sincerely yours (Mrs. )Betty Egglest6n. Robert A. Reid, M.D. Nov. 1969 Gerald Solomon, Supervisor c/o Queensbury Town Office Bldg. Bay and Haviland Rds. , Glens Falls, N. Y. Dear Gerry and members of the Town Board: I can' t imagine many things which must stir your imagination less than my annual report. I honestly believe that this will be an all-time low as far as arousing anyone' s interest. I can' t even liven it up with a story this year such as the one when some tenants decided to keep a horse in the basement (1967) . This doesn' t mean that there were less complaints. As expected, the numbers seem to be increasing. I started to keep track of the - number of calls I received (or letters) which had to do with c-,overflow- ing cesspools, pipes being plugged up, garbage and sewage being scattered in a rather haphazard fashion ets. , but by the time I reached 29 in June, I rather figured most of the Town was inundated. 3.38 So, I don' t know the number. Many of these have been settled via phone, a number via an initial letter, and some by investigation, and I presume that some haven' t been settled at all. I don't work very hard on noisy automobiles or loud parties, since these are not really a threat to the health of the Public. But have you ever tried to tell anyone this? I believe I committed five people in the course of the year. I didn' t get shot at this year (I did about four years ago) . I learn rapidly, and--now won' t go out on a committal unless the police are there first -- armed. I don' t have the "final returns" from the Public Health nurse, but the last I heard was that the immunization clinics held at Queensbury Resulted in over 1000 immunizations. I have another clinic this month, and again in December. Thus, the total should approach 1500. The number of -bites suffered throughtout the year is amazing. Everything from mosquito to monkey and one lion bite(s) occurred. Whenever possible, the animals are observed for aperiod of ten dates; some of them end up at Dr. Wiswell' s there have been no reports of rabies in either animals or people. If you have any euestions, please feel free to call 7me. I extend to all of you a tour of the outhouses which present problems. The peak of the season is in July. Sincerely yours, Robert A. Reid, M.
