Special Meeting December 18, 1969

The Town Board Meeting was called to order at 3:20 p.m.
On recommendations of Chief of Police Gilbert Schlierer the
following two resolutions were adopted:
RESOLUTION TO APPOINT PROVISIONAL PATROLMAN
RESOLUTION NO. 234, Introduced by Mr. Austin, seconded by
Mr. Robillard.
RESOLVED, that Patrick Catone of .Country Colony Drive be and he
is hereby appointed Provisional Patrolman for the remainder of 1969.
Duly adopted by the following vote:
Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and
Mr. Solomon.
Noes - None
RESOLUTION TO APPOINT SPECIAL POLICEMEN
RESOLUTION NO. 235 , Introduced by Mr. Robillard, seconded by
Mr. Robertson.
RESOLVED, that William Joslyn, of Farm to Market Road avid Richard
Casey of Aviation Road be and they are hereby appointed as Special
Policemen for the remainder of 1969.
Duly adopted by the following vote:
Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and
Mr. Solomon.
Noes - None
RESOLUTION NO. 2369 Introduced by Mr. Austin , seconded by
Mr. Robertson.
Whereas., the Town Board made an appropriation to the publicity fund
of the town for the fiscal year of 1969, and
WHEREAS, the Opera Festival Association, Inc. is located in the
Town of Queensbury and the publicity program of the Opera Yestival
will be of great benefit to the town, be it
RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the, Town of Queensbury enter into
a contract with Opera Festival Association, Inc. promote the Town of
Queensbury as a summer vacation area and cultural center for the
lower Adirondack and Lake George section in consideration of the sum
of $5,000.00 to be paid from said appropriation, andbe it further
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to
execute such contract on behalf of the Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury in form approved by the Town Counsel.

RESOLUTION NO. 237, Introduced by Mr. Demboski, seconded by Mr. Robertson.
WHEREAS, the Town Clerk, George C. Crannell, will be terminating his
employment with the Town of Queensbury on December 31, 1969 , and
WHEREAS, there remains six days of unused vacation due to George C.
Crannell, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that compensation in the amount of $142.50 for the six days
of unused vacation be paid to George C. Crannell.
Duly adopted by the following vote:
Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and
Mr. Solomon.

RESOLUTION NO. 238, Introduced by Mr. Demboski, seconded by Mr. Robertson.
WHEREAS, the Deputy Town Clerk, Marion J. Crannell will be terminating
her employment with the Town of Queensbury on December 31, 1969, and
WHEREAS, there remains six days of unused vacation due Marion J. Crannell,
therefore be it
RESOLVED, that compensation in the amount of $39.90 for the six days
unused vacation be paid to Marion J. Crannell.
Duly adopted by the following vote:
Ayes - Mr. Demboski, Mr. Austin, Mr. Robillard, Mr. Robertson and
Mr. Solomon.

RESOLUTION NO. 239, Introduced by Mr. Robertson, who moved its
adoption, seconded by Mr. Robillard.
WHEREAS, Carl A. Garb, Superintendent of Highways of the Town of
Queensbury did on December 18, 1969 recommend the purchase of
three (3) trucks to be used in the Highway Department, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and
directed to cause to be published once in the Glens Falls Times and
the Post Star a notice to read in substantially the following form:
NOTICE TO BIDDERS
Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury
will receive sealed proposals up to 5:00 P.M. on the 8th day of
January 1970 at the Town Clerk' s Office in the Queensbury Town Office
Building, Bay and Haviland Roads, Glens Falls, New York, 12801,
Town of Queensbury to supply the Highway Department with the following:
3 new 1970 Gasoline Driven Dump trucks with V-8 engines.
A copy of the detailed specifications for the trucks to be
purchased may be obtained during office hours at the Queens-
bury Town Office Building, Bay and Haviland Road, Glens Falls,
New York, Town of Queensbury.
Bids must be submitted in sealed opaque envelopes plainly
marked "Truck Bids" and there shall be included in such bid
the certificate of Non-Collusion required by Section 103D
of the General Municipal Law and the bidder must state the
approximate delivery date of the trucks to be supplied.

The Town Board will meet at the Queensbury Town Office
Building Bay and Haviland Road, Glens Falls, New York,
Town of Queensbury at 8 :00 P.M. on the 8th day of January,
1970 at which time the bids will be opened and read aloud.
This Town Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

RESOLUTION OF CONGRATULATIONS
RESOLUTION NO. 240, Introduced by Mr. Austin, who moved its adoption,
seconded by Mr. Solomon.
WHEREAS, LOTTIE VAN DUSEN McECHRON is one of the most valued and
respected citizens of the Town of Queensbury, and
WHEREAS, she has seen fit to spend nearly one century as a
resident of this town; and
WHEREAS, she has contributed to our community by the beautification
of he attractive and pleasant farm home on the West Mountain Road, ,
efforts which have received official recognition over the years; and
WHEREAS, she was designated Queensbury Citizen of the Year for
the current year by action of this board in December of 1968; and
WHEREAS, she will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on
Saturday, December 20, 1969;
THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury hereby extends its heartiest congratulations to
LOTTIE VAN DUSEN McECHRON on her one hundredth birthday, praising
her for an exemplary first hundre years and extending best wishes
for the years ahead; with assurances that all of the residents of
Queensbury join with their Town Board in this resolution,and be it
further
RESOLVED, that this resolution be entered in the minutes of this
meeting and that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to
transmit a copy thereof to LOTTIE VAN DUSEN McECHRON, AND to her
daughter Sarah McEchron.

RESOLUTION NO. 241, Introduced by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Austin.
RESOLVED, that the Audit of Claims as listed in Abstract #69-12A
numbered #14#6 through #1480 inclusive and totaling $8,617.37 is
hereby approved.

Mr. Solomon.
