Harwood Beaty Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman Curtis Lampson Councilman Hammond Robertson, Jr. Councilman The meeting was called to order by the Supervisor at 8:00 p.m. Supervisor Webster greeted the following visitors: Florence Mcllvaine - Reporter, The Post Star Harold Robillard - Councilman - Elect Thomas K. Flaherty - Superintendent of Queensbury Water The minutes of the meeting of December 14, 1967 were approved. Carried unanimously. The clerk read .the following communications: Martin Hennessey R.F.D. #3 West Glens Falls, N.Y. December 21, 1967 Queensbury Town Board Bay Road Glens Falls, New York Gentlemen: I would like to submit myself as an applicant for the newley created position as building inspector for the town of Queensbury, Warren County, New York. I am forty five years of age and have been a life long residnet of the Town of Queensbury a property owner and a taxpayer for the past sixteen years. A graduate of the Glens Falls School class of 1940. A veteran of world was two seeing action in the Southwest Pacific. I have spent about fourteen years in the building business of home construction. Five years with Levitte and Hall Inc. , builders of National Homes during which time we constructed over 200 homes. I also contracted and built and remodeled homes on contract by myself. At present I am employed by the H & F Binch Company for the past five years. I am also an enrolled Republican in the Town of Queensbury, Warren County, New York. I feel that I am qualified for the position of building inspector with the above experience I have had in the building business. And therefore submit myself as a candidate for the position. A letter was presented to each member of the Town Board from Mr. David S. Yates. The letter was of the nature to discuss the progress of the Sewer Study as prepared by the Tri-County Sewerage Agency. 353 December 18, 1967 To the Town Board, Town of Queensbury Dear Sirs: I. Carol C. Webster, Country Colony, Town of Queensbury, hereby wish to make an Application for the appointment as Receiver of Taxes and Assessments in the Town of Queensbury on January 1, 1968. My qualifications for the appointment are that I worked under Mr. George Webster in the office of Local Assessments at —` Lake George, I have been employed in the Hotel Business as desk clerk and also I was in the employ of the Hildreth Travel Agency for some time. I have served as Deputy Town Clerk for -the Town of Queensbury for the past(6)six years. Please be advised that my husband (William D. Webster Jr. ) and I have been property owners for over 7 (seven) years in the Town of Queensbury and life long resident of the Town of Queensbury. December 14th, 1967 �._ Queensbury Town Board - c/o Town of Queensbury Office Building Bay Road Glens Falls, New York 12801 Gentlemen: This seems to be the appropriate time of the year to advise you of the wondefful help and cooperation being given us by your Chief of Police, LeRoy Phillips. I am sure you are all aware we have a traffic problem where our shopping center's main entrance intersects Route 9. Chief Phillips has taken complete charge of hiring the traffic patrolmen being used there, training-them, and arranging their schedules. While we are naturally paying the salaries of•these -men, we would find it very difficult to secure the safety and good will - not only for the Northway Plaza, but for the Town of Queensbury itself, if it were not for the competent management by Chief Phillips. CASWELL Chairman, Traffic Committee NORTHWAY PLAZA MERCHANTS ASSOCIATION 354 Supervisor Webster presented copies of the approvals of Water Resources Commission on the Bay Road Water District, the Route 9 Water District and the latest approval of Queensbury Water District. Lengthy discussion ensued on the problem of laying water and sewer mains in the location of the proposed changes in the Route of Aviation Road by the Department of Transportation of the State of New York. Superintendent of Highways, Bernard J. Codner recommended the acceptance of a deed from Mrs. Cleo H. Rogers which would Re-route Arbutus Drive with the town. RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT DEED FOR TOWN HIGHWAY RESOLUTION NO. 264, Introduced by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Lampson. WHEREAS, Mr. Cleo H. Rogers has executed and offered one deed for a portion of land which is intended to create an extension to the present Arbutus Drive and extending from Lupine Lane to Wintergreen Road, and WHEREAS, Bernard J. Codner, Superintendent of Highways has advised this board that he recommends the acceptance of this portion of land, therefore be it RESOLVED, that following the approval of County Attorney Albert E. Beswick, the deed, as above described, be and the same is hereby accepted and that the .Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause said deed to be recorded in the Warren County Clerks office and then filed in the office of the Town Clerk. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, LMr. Robertson and Mr. Webster Noes - None RESOLUTION TO ISSUE JUNK YARD LICENSE RENEWAL RESOLUTION NO. 265, Introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Lampson. WHEREAS, the following applicant has made application tb,h--the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury for the renewal of their Junk Yard License for the year 1968, and said application has been accoppailied by the proper license fee of $25.00 in accordance with the Queensbury Junk Yard Ordinance as adopted on June 9, 1966. NAME ADDRESS APPLICATION DATE Mandigo Auto Parts R.D. 3, Luzerne Road 12-20-67 Glens Falls, N. Y. WHEREAS, the applicant has agreed to comply with all of the provisions of said Ordinance, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Renewal of the Junk Yard License of the above listed applicant for the year 1968, be and the same is hereby approved, and be it further resolved that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directedato issue said renewal license and deposit the fee in the General Town Fund Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster Noes - None 35 The audit meeting for the year 1967 will be arranged for Thursday, December 28, 1967. Notices will be forwarded to all proper officials. Mr. Gerald B. H. Solomon, Supervisor - Elect. visited the meeting at this time. The contracts which were approved following a public hearing sometime ago were re-read for the fenefit of discussion by the Town Board. On motion the meeting adjourned. December 26, 1967 Queensbury Town Board, Queensbury Office Building Bay & Haviland Roads, R.D, 1 Glens Falls, New York Gentlemen: I wish to apply for the position of Zoning & Building Inspector for the Town of Queensbury, on a part time basis, for the Calender Year starting Janusry 1st, 1968. Because of my past experience with the Mobile Home Ordinance and with my recent experience with the Queensbury Zoning Ordinance I .believe I can discharge the duties of the Zoning & Building Inspector -� in a work week of approximately 25 hours maximum.
