1965-02-04 SP 452 Special Meeting February 4, 1965 Present: John 0. Webster Supervisor N. Harwood Beaty Councilman Theodore Turner Councilman - Curtis Lampson Councilman Hammond-Robertson, Jr. Councilman The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. Visitors greeted by the Supervisor were as follows: LeRoy Phillips - Chief of Police Thomas K. Flaherty - Superintendent of Queensbury Water District Bernard- Zovistosky - The Post Star Phyllis Berger - League of Women Voters Supervisor Webster reported that the Warren County Soil Conservation Department have accepted the request that they should conduct a soil survey within the Town of Queensbury. A meeting, is planned to conduct the survey in each. section of the County of Warren.. A request from the Planning Board was received, asking for arrange- ments for a joint meeting with the Town Board of Queensbury. The meeting was scheduled for February 25, 1965. Webster Chestnut Ridge Road Glens Falls, New York Dear John: I find it necessary due to pressures in my own office'"to� totender my resignation as a member of the Queensbury Town Planning Board as well as the Town and City Cooperative Committee. I have enjoyed the work and hope that I may have made some small-contribution to the work of the Board. It is my desire that this resignation be effective immediately. Glass Councilman Lampson reported on a recent inspection of street lights within the Town of Queensbury. Councilman Robertson stated that the application has been made with the Public Service Commission to proceed with plans to complete an inter-truck to terminal radio system within the Town of Queensbury. Discussion developed on the possibility of using- one radio which has been offered to the town by the Warren County Control Center. Councilman Robertson also reported on the progress to date of the joint Water Source Survey which will be conducted with several neighboring groups taking part. 453 RISOLUTION NO. 42, introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Robertson WHEREAS, this board previously authorized participation in the Inter-Community Comprehensive Area Water Resources Engineering Survey, and has appointed representatives of this. board to represent the Town of Queensbury on a joint committee, and WHEREAS, it appears that each participating community has been asked to contribute the sum of $10.00 to a fund to cover the actual and necessary expenses of this committee, such as postage, telephone, etc. , now therefore be it _ RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to pay to such committee the sum of $10.00 and charge the amount to the appropriation, Services of Engineer & Expenses, of the General Fund. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster Noes - None Supervisor Webster reported that a verbal request has been received fromaME,4,4 well South of the Queensbury Central Fire Company to conduc on y 31st _thvough June 5th, 1965, RESOLUTION NO. 43, introduced by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Turner. RESOLVED, that permission be granted to hold a carnival as follows: Sponsor - Queensbury Central Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. Carnival - Continental Shows Place - Henry Sleight lot, Aviation Road. Date - May 31st through June 5th, 1965. Further RESOLVED that the Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to issue a permit to hold aforesaid on receipt of liability insurance in the amount of $100,000.00 and $300,000.00 coverage by the production of a certificate of insurance showing such coverage. Duly adopted by. the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Beaty, Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster. Water tap fees collected; Queensbury District $50.00 Other Districts -none Money recovered from damage to hydrants, Rt.9 at Milfranks 115.50 Cost of extra materials used in the installation of 3/4" tap for Mr. Culver, Glenwood Ave. 8.40 Total money collected and turned over to Town Supervisor $ 173.90 Water taps made: Queensbury District, 1 pending Other Districts, none 45 (Queensbury Water Department Report - continued) Water tap permits for servide outside of established water districts. None. Water meters installed: Queensbury District, none Other Districts none In the Queensbury the following work -was completed: All fire hydrants were cleared after both snow storms. The office area at the pumping station was enclosed and painted. A..sieam thawer was purchased and put into use. During the month the station was completely cleaned and routine maintenance work performed. Leaks attended to: Queensbury District Montgomery Wards. . Broken island hose, repaired by owner #6 Hillcrest Ave. Service leak repaired by owner Woodbury Lumber Model Home Service leak repaired by owner N.Y.S. Dept. of Health- Broken pipe repaired by owner Spinning Wheel Laundry Cause unknown shut off water , Owner notified #3 Luzerne Road Broken Pipe repaired by owner Frozen Services . Pauls Restaurant Lake .George Road Frozen Hydrants Queensbury District 3 all repaired The pumping station was inspected by the New York State department of Health. There were a number of test wells,..drilltd of which the Board has a report. This Dept. has spent a total of 90 hours flushing mains and hydrants this month. CONSUMPTION Month 7,665,000 Gals.
