1963-10-24 Supervisor Webster, proceeded to explain to the members of the
Town Board, that the future Water Superintendent should be em-
ployed first as an inspector ou .the project.- With the training
that will be afforded the appointee it is the hopes that when
time comes for the Civil Service appointments the previously
appointed inspector will be qualified for the position as
Superintendent.
Mr. Thorne, was granted time with the Town Board and Mr. Kestner
with the thought in mind that all future plans were agreeable
to both the appointee and the Town Board. With an understanding
arrived at, it was expected that Mr. Thorne would become an
inspector in the employ of the Engineer Mr. Kestner on Monday
October 219 1963.

RESOLVED, that the contract with Abalene Pest Control, for
extermination of rats and rodents at the Town Dump, for a stipulated
fee of $240.00 per year, payable pt $20.00 per month, for a period
commencing December It 1963 and ending November 30, 1964 be and
the same is hereby approved, and be it further.
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be. andthereby is authorised and
directed to sign such contract on behalf of the Town.

Mr. LeRoy Phillip , was granted the floor at this time with a
request for clarification of the Ordinance on Junk Yards within
the Town.

Town Board will be anxious to help. Councilman Beaty was requested
to look into the legal aspects of the matter at present.
W. Warren McKinney of the Queensbury Jaycees explained the feeling
of the newly formed group which is that the men will be more than
anxious to afford the-Town of Queensbury any assistance on matters
of progress within the community.

RESOLUTION NO.. 159 introduced by Mr. Akins, seconded by Mr. Turner
WHEREAS, Western Avenue is situated on the western boundry between
the City of Glens Falls and the Town of Queensbury, but is located
entirely within the City of Glens Falls , and
WHEREAS, the City of Glens Falls has already determined that Western
Avenue should be generally cond idered a through street, by requiring
vehicle traffic traveling west on side or cross streets, such as
Grant Avenue, to stop before entering or crossing -Western Avenue, and
WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that the Town of Queensbury should
also regulate- eastbound traffic on side or cross -streets in the
Town of Queensbury intersecting with Western Avenus, by requiring
traffic to stop before entering or crossing. Western Avenue, therefore
be it
RESOLVED., that "Through Traffic Stop" signs are hereby authorized
to be erected at-the place's where the following streets or avenues
intersect with Western. Avenue,
Barber Avenue, .Grant Avenue Extension, Nathan Street, Columbia
Avenue, and any others so- intersecting, and be it Vurther .
RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is
authorized andtdirected to cause the proper signs to be erected in
accordance with this resolution, and be it further

RESOLVED, that this resolution takes effect immediately.

Superintendent of Highways, Codner, recommended that the Town Board
request bids for the salt to be used on the highways during coining
winter.
RESOLUTION NO. 160 introduced by Mr. Beaty, seconded by Mr. Lampson
RESOLVED, that the Town of Queensbury solicit sealed bids for highway
salt and that the following notice be published once in the Glens Falls
Times and the Post Star on or before November 1, 1963.
