Webster - 'Chestnut Ridge Road t G1ens 'Falls, New York Dear John: t I am very desirous of serving on the 9ueensbury Recreation Council. This area of development is an inadequacy in our town sufficiently large to require our best efforts . 93 Recreation Commission Letter - continued Although I am investigating this problem with the Department of Youth of New York State for the Glens Falls Jaycees, I would want to act as an independent resident representing my family and our new forth-coming Queensbury business only. Concerning our new factory, we are finalizing plans now. When yop have an opportunity, please stop by and see our somewhat rendered vertical and plan views of the new construction. Yours very truly, Bob R. W. Broughton Martin F. Geruso, Jr. , Esq. 20 Old Forge Road Town of Queensbury Glens Falls, N. Y. January 10, 1964 John 0. Webster, Supervisor, Town of Queensbury Chestnut Ridge Road Glens Falls, N. Y. Dear Mr. Webster: Enclosed you will find a Resume prepared by the undersigned in order that you may consider the qualifications set forth therein while determining whether or not the undersigned should be appointed as a member of the Recreation Commission soon to be formed in the Town of Queensbury. As you can see, I have had prior experience in this field and consider it a pleasure and somewhat of art obligation of each citizen to work with and aid the youth of our country. As I look at the rapid expan- sion that has taken place in the Town of Queensbury even in the short time that I have resided here, a little over one year, it certainly be- comes evident that the community is in need of sound leadership and that such leadership should come from its citizens of tomorrow. It is sincerely hoped that you will give this application your deep- est consideration. Very truly yours, Martin F. Geruso, Jr. January 10, 1964 267 Bay Street Glens Falls, N.Y. Board of Directors Town of Queensbury Warren County, N. Y. Gentlemen: One of the most important steps that a growing community must take is the development of good recreation facilities. This is something that will take time and planning. Also a lot of work and personal sacrifice. However, if in the end the kind of facilities, which I know this community wants, needs, and has the potential for the effort will be well worth while. For these reasons I hereby submit my name to be considered for application to the new recreation commission. I am a life long resident of Glens Falls and last year purchased a home in the town of Queensbury. I am married and have three sons . I- am a graduate of Glens Falls High School and Paul Smith' s. College. 94 I am a graduate of Glens Falls High School and Paul Smith' s College. I am a Water Safety Instructor and have for the last three years assisted in teaching swimming and life gurading at the Y.M.C.A. While in the service I was Water Safety Instructor and Small Crafts Instructor at the Army Youth Camp for Europe at Biscarouse, France. I am an avid sports man myself and therefore, I feel I know the value of good, safe, and well planned facilities . This town can accomplish these things without being lavish and ._.t spending a lot of money. I hope you will consider this appli- cation favorably, for I would enjoy serving my community in this manner. I remain, Sincerely yours; Dale T. Granger 14 Sargent Street Glens Falls, New York January 13, 1964 John 0. Webster Chestnut Ridge Road Glens Falls, New York Dear Sir: Upon reading your article in the paper pertaining to the betterment of the youth of our Community through a proposed Recreation Commission, and after our brief telephone con- versation of this subject, I should like to offer my services in anyway that you or the Commission feels that I could best serve. y Perhaps, Mr. Webster, you do not know me so I feel that I should properly introduce myself as far as having any experience in this field. I have been connected with the Scouting Program for the past ten and one half years. I have served as Assistant Scout Master, Scout Master, Troop Committee Chairman, Neighborhood Commissioner, and Assistant ' District Commissioner for Scouting in our local Pioneer District here. Bringing it closer to our Town of Queensbury, I have served as Scout Master of Troop 15, upon its organization at the Mohican Grange for 3 years . I am presently serving as Neighborhood Commissioner for Troop 15 and also Cub Scout Pack 13 which is sponsored by the Bay Ridge Volunteer Fire Company. I am also a member of the Harrisena Cummunity Church and am employed by Broughton Corporation of Glens Falls . Upon completion of our telephone conversation, you did request a formal letter, and I trust that the above+ in- formation is sufficient. If not, please feel free to call me at any time as I would enjoy any further discussion with you on this subject. I feel that the youth of any community can become a serious problem without the aid of just such help as you have proposed. Again, I wish to thank you for your attention. Sincerely, John W. Barlow 95 49 Glenwood Avenue, Glens Falls, N. Y. January 13, 1964 Mr. John 0. Very truly yours, Harold LaRose Jan. 13, 1964 Mr. John 0. Webster Supervisor, Town of Queensbury Glens Falls, N. Y. Dear Mr. Webster: In connection with the proposed establishment of a committee to work in the field of Town Recreation I should like to propose the name of Mrs . Alger C. Mason to serve on this body. She is currently chairman of the Recreation Committee for our local civic group, the Kattskill Bay Association and it would seem desireable to tie in the activity of this group with the Town in this field. Sincerely yours, Milton S . Mead President 95 Dixon Road Glens Falls, New York January 14, 1964 Town Board Town of Queensbury Gentlemen: Although I am one of the newer residents of the Town of Queens= bury, I am very much interested in recreation for this area. I lived for many years in Long Island where I saw many rec- reational opportunities sacrificed in short sighted planning which has since been regretted. As a student 'of forestry, including recreational forestry, I learned of the tremendous needs for additional and expanded outdoor recreational facilities . Employed as Recreational Forester at Lake Mohonk Mountain House, I was able to see for myself how greatly people enjoyed the recreational facilities which I helped to provide. Now, as the Forest Ranger for the Town of Queensbury, I would like very much to take an active part in this area of activity, and to assist you as a member of a recreation commission, or in any way that I possibly can. Very truly yours, Louis C Curth 96 RFD #1 Mannis Road January 15, 1963 Mr. John 0. Webster Chestnut Ridge Road Glens Falls, N. Y. Dear Mr. Webster: I would like to volunteer for the proposed Recreation Commission. Since I am a reletively new resident of the area, I am not now familiar with all of the problems and needs which have lead to t the recommendation that the Recreation Commission be formed. However, I am very much interested in both sports and children and feel that I could make a worth while contribution. I am presently employed by the General Electric Company as Manager, Electronic Capacitor Product Engineering at the Hudson Falls plant. I have three sons, the oldest of whom is now in the first grade at Queensbury Elementary. If you wish any additional information, call at my home (RX 2-7092) or office (RH 7-3341) , Ext. 243) .
