Thissyear it will be a regular old "Country Fair"-I, featuring new
games and rides from 1:30 - 7 P. M. •- a Pancake Supper Saturday 5 -t7,
followed by a, program of a "Hootenanny" and Round and Square Dancing,
with an old - timer on the fiddle for the caller.)
Friday evening, pre-fair, there will be 'a "Hoedown" done for
the Teenagers.
As you know this big event is our one money making benefit
of the year and is mostly for our extension scholForship program .
which we have increased somewhat each year. N..
We are very interested in having 2 large overhead :banners
placed in strategic spots as reminders and invitations to general
public to come to the Fair. One place possibly either at inter-
section of Quaker & Aviation & Route 9, and one in W.G.F. near
Northway Turnoff. What is the necessary requirements, red tape,
and other obstacles I will have to attend to for 'permission for
above? .
R Yours very truly,

Queensbury
Dear Sir:
Our home is located on the corner of Ashley Place and Pershing
Road in the town of
Queensbury- A year ago when that terrific fire
jumped the Northway and frightened everyone so that they were told to
evacuate their homes, the firemen were ready to use the hydrant on our
corner. They found that it was old, rusted, and out of condition and
could not be used. This might have been a'very costly' thing to many
of us who depend upon fire°protection. Though we pay water rents to
the city of Glens Falls, they are not responsible, I am told for the
care and maintenance of the fire hydrant. The Water Commissioner said,
however, that,'•he would attend to its maintenance every year for the sum
of $58. The first year I had to write letters explaining etc to all the
residents within a-specified'distance• of- the hydrant and ask them for
their contribution . I hope that there is some way in which this can
be corrected. We-support-1n some measure by taxes and also by gifts,
the Queensbury Fire Depattment,'but" what is- the- 'sense of that if the
hydrant is not in good shape? sCan' you in the interests of all of us,
bring this matter up at a meeting and let us know what will be done
about it Cannot the Town of Queensbury take over- the- care of* that
hydrant so that we may all feel safe in time of emergency- -We feel as
though we are betwixt- and -between and would like to have you do some-
thing in the interest of all of us. Thank you for all you do and for
an answer when possible.
I
Sincerely,
Mr. -and Mrs. Gilbert H. Lange ,
