Re: Deed from Nelson W. Griggs
Several weeks ago, Miller & Mannix, attorney for Nelson
Griggs, submitted to me a deed which conveyed to' the.-Town of
Queensbury lands for town highways in'the development known as
Courthouse Estates but L_was unable to approve it because it was
subject' to a mortgage held by John W,' Miller and also contained a
provision that Griggs could erect posts where Courthouse Drive ;
intersects Glen Lake Road.
The deed has now been_ revised_ to-- proyide. that the. posts
shall be erected only with the approval and under the supervision
of the Superintendent of Highways. The original deed made it
possible for Griggs to put the-posgS anywhere he, wanted toand if
they were within the highway limits the town. .coul.d., have,.been. liable,
It seems to me that the present provision provides_adequ.ate..pretection
for the town because I am sure Mr. Codner will not approve putting
them where they can obstruct traffic.
Also, Mr. Miller has now released these roads from, the
lien of his mortgage.
If the Town Board is satisfied, you can adopt a resolution
accepting these roads. Both the deed and mortgage release should be
recorded and filed in the Town Clerk's office. . : -

Dear Mr. Webster:
It has recently come to my attention that the school, at
Mountain View and Aviation, used by the Co-op. Mentally Retarded
Class is not marked with "School Zone" signs.
I am sure you will agree with me that due to the increasing
traffic and the high rate of speed used on Aviation Road, the
road East and West of the school be marked.
The "School Zone" sign has never been moved at the
Queensbury High School. In the interest of 'safety, it should
be moved West of the school driveways to offer the maximum
safety to the school children and vehicles.
. Your attention to these two matters will be greatly
- appreciated.
