The application .for a permit was read by the clerk., Mr. Harold Rathbun was granted the floor,, The,.question of constitut- ionality of the ordinance as adopted by the 'Town Board of 'Queensbury was voiced by Mr., Rathbun. A proposal was read to the Town Board which requested a change in the ordinance that would consider all places of abode in the same manner as the recently enacted ordinance is expected to control the placing of mobile homes within the town. With no objections being presented the hearing was declared closed. The hearing was declared open to do with.,the application of Alfred E. & Lillian F. Wells to locate a mobile home 'outside' o"f & 'mobile home court. Proof of Publication was presented by the clerk. The application for a permit was read by the Clerk. With no objections voiced at this time the hearing was declared closed. Crannell Town Clerk Town of Queensbury 95 Dixon Road Glens Falls, New York Dear Mr. Crannell: 292 (State Traffic Letter - continued) Dear Mr. Crannell: ' This is in further reference to the request of the Town Board for a lower maximum speed on Route 149 in the Town of Queensbury, Warren County. A study of conditions has been completed by the State Department of Public Works, the Division of State Police and the Department of Motor Vehicles. Our review included the distance of 1.5+ miles between Route fL and Bay road. In this distance there are only 12 residences and the Country Club. This marginal development is far below the minimum considered desirable for an effective speed restriction. Thd' rolling grades and winging alignment are not conducive to excessive speeds.. There are no -factors in evidence which would justify a reduced speed zone and we, therefore, regret that we do not find it proper to comply with the Town Board's request._ Since a similar request was received from Norman A. A bill in the amount of $704.00 was recently submitted to you. Please be advised our` truer was damaged while it was connectdd to a water hydrant in the Town of Queensbury. We feel that it is not our right to question your *contractor as to his Insurance Coverage: Therefore, we believe that it is the responsibility of the Town Board to determine who is liable for this claim. Also, the expense of getting the truck to the factory for the nec- essary repairs is 'approximately $50;00. ' We trust this matter will be taken care of in the very near future. These are held the first, third and fourth Tuesdays each month and have all been held. at=the Chapel in West Glens Falls. We are now going to have the -one on the third Tuesday held at the Munivipal Center, since we have clinic space in our, offices. • This will- make it easier for mothers in other sections of the town to get to Clinic. The first and fourth sessions will continue to be held at the _ Chapel. �- Thank you and all -the members of the Town Board fir your, interest and cooperation. The job I would like to_ apply for is building inspector int the Town of Queensbury. I have had little experience in real erttate other than remodeling which I have had lots. Two new meters have been installed, in new business establishments. Three permits for water connections, outside of established;vtater districts, were issued. _ On August 6, there was a broken 6" water main oil Meadowbrook Road. On August 7, there was a broken customer service on. 332 Ridge_Rd. On August 24, there was a broken customer service on 322 Ridge Road. On August 24, there was a broken 6" water main on Aviation Rd. - ; On August 25, therewas-a broken customer service on 330 Ridge Rd. August 20,1 21, supervised the installation of. a. fire hydrant and 75 feet of water main on Bullard Avenue. Work done by .the City of Glens Falls Water Department. Installed guard posts on two new fire hydrants on Qgaker Road. Codner, Superintendent of Highways recommended the adoption of the following resolutions: RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE STOP SIGNS AND REGULATE TRAFFIC RESOLUTION N0. 155 introduced by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Lampson WHEREAS, through ,lack of--traffic" a dangerous traffic hazzard now exists at the intersection of Parkview Avenue and Park Place, and WHEREAS, 'it is hereby determined that Parkview Avenue should be generally considered a through street, by requiring vehicle traffic traveling East and West on Park Place to stop before entering or crossing Parkview Avenue, and ` WHEREAS,' the highway department has recently completed the second lane of Parkview Avenue, theeeby making this street a dual lane street, and it is hereby determined that traffic should be restricted to one way on each lane, therefore be it RESOLVED, that "Stop" Signs are hereby authorized to be erected at the place where Park Place intersects with Parkview Avenue, and be it further RESOLVED, that "one way" signs are hereby authorized to be erected on Parkview Avenue °to regulate traffic as follows: Northbound traffic only on the east lane, and Southbound traffic only on the west lane, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be erected in accordance with this resolution, and be it further RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately. Duly adopted by the following vote: Ayes - Mr. Turner, Mr. Lampson, Mr. Robertson and Mr. Webster. Noes - None 314 RESOLUTION. TO AUTHORIZE STOP SIGNS RESOLUTION NO. 156 introduced by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Lampson. WHEREAS, through lack of traffic control, a dangerous traffic hazzard now exists at the intersection of South Avenue and Connecticut Avenue, and WHEREAS, it is hereby determined that traffic traveling on South,Avenue should be required t6 st6p before entering or crossing Rhode Island Avenue, Connecticut Avenue, Ohio Avenue and Indiana Avenue, therefore be it RESOLVED, that "Stop" signs are hereby authorized to be erected at all places where South Avenue intersects or crosses Rhode Island, Connecticut Ohio, and Indiana Avenue, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is . authorized and directed to cause the proper signs to be erected .in accotdance with this resolution, and be it further RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately.
