The following persons were also present Jean Giorginni „ Stephen Gior- -- gianni, Francis 'Poutre , John Flower, Josephine Flower, Shirley Dougher, _. Joseph Dougher, James Caccavo, Roscoe Rowell. They discussed with the board the condition of the Sunnyside Road, especially in reference to widening of said road. Beecher Hartman was present in reference to the Hartman development on the Corinth Road. Discussion was had on acceptance of road by the Town and a map of the development was placed on file. Aq unverified petition requesting the Town Boardtto install a sewer on the Boulevard was presented to the Board by Anthony Caivano. He was in- formed as to the procedure to be followed; the petition was received and filed. Bart Riordan and Jack Regan representing the Glen. Lake Association were present. The need for certain Signs was discussed, Discussion was also had on road conditions .in general. It was proposed` that the town adopt an ordinance as follows : ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ARTERIAL. - ROUTES AND AUTHORIZING STOP SIGNS IN THE T 09N OF QUEENSBURY, COUNTY OF WARREN, NEtff YORK Be It Resolved and Ordained by the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury, Warren County, New York, as follows : Section 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 166 of the Laws j of 1955,, .the following town highways in the Town of Queensbury are here- by determined to be and designated as main arteries of travel: Aviation Road from State Highway Route 9 to the Mountain Road; Dixon Road from the Glens Falls City line .to ,Aviation Road; Sherman Avenue from the Glens Falls city line to Mountain Road; Luzern Road from the Glens Falls city line .to Mountain Road; Mountain Road from the Corinth Road to the point of county main- tenance.; Glen Lake Road from State Highway Route 9 to Bay Road; i I i I r 46 Pershing Road from the Glens Falls city line to Hughes Court; . entral.Q Avenue from Corinth Road to Minnesota Avenue; Big Bay Road. from Corinth Road to Big Boom Road; Big Bdom_Road from Big Bay Road to- the. Hudson River. Section 2. The erection of stop signs on all town. highways which cross or intersect any of the arterial routes designated in this ordi- nance is hereby authorized. Section 3. Any person operating a vehicle on any town highway which crosses or intersects a main artery of travel as herein designated shall, before entering or crossing such main artery of travel , bring such vehicle to a complete stop unless otherwise directed gy a peace office,j or signal and shall enter upon or cross such main artery of travel with caution. Section 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof be punishable by a fine not exceeding Fifty Dollars or by imprisonment not exceeding 30 days or both such fine and imprisonment for each such offense. Resolution No. 76 introduced by Mr. Akins who moved its adoptions, seconded by Mr. Walkup: Whereas , it is proposed that the Town Board adopt an ordinance , pursuant to Chapter 166 of the Laks' of 19551- which will designate Aviation Road, Dixon Road, Sherman Avenue , Luzerne Road, Mountain Road, Glen Lake Road , Pershing Road, Broad Acres Road , Central Aven ue , Big Bay Road and Big Bo.om Road as main arteries _of of travel* which will author- ize the erection of stop signs on all town highways crossing or inter- secting any of said arterial routes , which will require all persons op- erating vehicles on any such town highwayd crossing or entering such arterial routes to bring the same to a complete stop before crossing or entering upon such arterial routes and which will provide penalties for the violation thereof RESOLVED,, that the Town Board meet at the Town Clerk' s office - on the 6th day of August, 1955, at 7.30 0' clock, (D.S.T.) to hear all persons interested in. the subject matter of such proposed ordinance , and it is further I RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and hereby is directed to give public notice, of such hearing according to law. A discussion on a proposed ordinance to muzzle dogs was held; the matter is to be studied further. The following letter was read to the board : ALBERT E. Dear Russell : During the past weeks Jack Van Dusen' left with me a map of his survey-of the relocation of the portion of the Dixon Road near the 47 Fr-ed Chapman property and on this map he shows a Parcel A. which is a part of the present road., which. I understand is to be conveyed to Mr. Chapman. Parcel B is a piece to be conveyed by Mr. Chapman to the town in exchange for Parcel A. Parcel C is a small piecelto be acquired by the town from the City of Glens Falls. I have prepared and enclose a proposed resolution which authorizes the relocation of Dixon Road and authorizes you to execute a deed from the Town to Chapman in exchange for the deed from Cheipman to the town. The deeds are all prepared and I will deliver them to you after the enclosed resolution has been adopted. Mr. Van Dusen took back the map which he left with me and is going to have two more copies made , one for Mr. Chapman and the other for the ' City. Beswick The resolution which was enclosed was subsequently adopted as follaws: Mr. kkirfs introduced Resolution No. 77 and moved its adoptions seconded by Mr., Lampson: WHEREAS, it appears to be desirable to change the location of a portion of the town highway known as Dixon Road to eliminate a dangerous condition near the property of Frederick B. Chapmanj and WHEREAS, said. 'Frederick B. Chapman has offered to convey to the Town of Queensbury a portion of his lands acquired for the relocation of the Dixon Road without cost provided the Town of Queensbury convey to him a portion of the lands on which the present road is located , and it appears advantageous to the Town of Queensbury to accept such offer. RESOLVED, that the change of location of the portion of Dixon load - as shown upon a map prepared by John B. VanDusen, Tom Engineer, be and the same hereby is approved , and it is further RESOLVED that Parcel A as shown upon said map will no longer be req 'ired for highway purposes, and it is further RESOLVED that the Town of Queensbury convey to Frederick B. Chapman the title and interest of the Town of QueensIbury in and to Parcel A as shown on said map upon condition that said Frederick B. Chapman shall convey to the Town of Queensbury the land s designated as Parcel B on said map, and it is. further RD-SOLVED that upon receipt from Frederick Chapman of a deed conveying said Parcel B to the Town of -Queensbury, the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute and deliver to said Fred- erick B. On motion of Councilman Watson, seconded by Councilman Fish, all voting affirmatively, it was RESOLVED that the State Department of Public Works , the 'Marren County Board of Supervisors , the State Traffic Commission and the Town of Queens- bury be advised of the dire necessity of moving traffic around the City of Glens Falls and that a suggested route be outlined for moving such traffic to take in the north side and the east side of the City of Glens Falls but outside of the city limits and that these bodies be strongly urged to co- operate in making such a route possible , and be it further resolved that cer- tified copies of this resolution be sent to the parties mentioned .in this resolution.
