As per your request we conducted a Preliminary Structural Condition assessment that included a site inspection on 10/23/18. This inspection included an examination of the roof structure and condition as well as any structural drawings that were available. PV solar panels are proposed 3 roof areas as summarized below. The panels are mounted on rails which are attached to the roof with an anchored deck base system and installed per manufacturer's specifications and recommendations. It was found that the roof structure noted on Site Plan PV-S1 and Structural Detail PV-S3 can satisfactorily withstand the proposed additional loads and will meet the applicable standards included in the NYS 2017 Uniform Code Supplement, ASCE 7-10, and 2015 IRC. The loads considered are: Wind speed = 115 psf Snow load = 50 psf Roof dead load = 9.4 psf Solar System Dead Load = 3.2 psf The total existing load on the areas of the roof where panels are to be installed was found to be 9.4 psf. The roof was determined to have single layer of asphalt shingles atop half inch plywood sheathing. Installation is to be avoided on the north side of roof 1 as per PV-S1, S2, S3. This is due to water damage on a rafter. Overall the roof area is structurally adequate to support the additional load of the solar panels and their framework. Acknowledged by: David C.
