Minutes of the May 3, 2005 regular meeting held at the Town of Queensbury Office
Complex Conference Room.
Chairman Jack LaBombard called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.
Present: Commissioners Etu, Fusco, LaBombard, Maine, and Mott.
Staff Present: Director Hansen, Assistant Director Lovering, Aquatic Director Carr
Guests Present: Councilman John Strough
Approval of the Minutes:
Moved by Commissioner Maine, seconded by Commissioner Mott to approve the
minutes of the April 5, 2005 meeting and place on file. All members present approved.
Communications and Remarks from Visitors: (see file for copies)
· Copies of Newspaper articles and e-mails regarding proposed community center
were distributed and briefly discussed.
Unfinished Business
. Park Project Status Report (see file dated 5/1/05)
· Hovey Pond Park master plan as prepared by Jim Miller of Miller Associates was
presented and discussed. He reviewed existing conditions and proposed
improvements. Phases of the project were discussed as well. After much
discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Maine and seconded by
Commissioner Mott to approve the Master Plan concept to be prepared in color.
All members present approved.
· RidgelJenkinsville paving and parking lot completed. Tennis and Basketball
courts surfaces have been paved and inspected with comments and concerns
expressed in writing by J. Miller. Follow up on these will take place.
· Hudson Pointe Nature Preserve new floating bridge is ready for delivery and will
be installed when river conditions permit since it is planned to float new bridge up
river. River conditions are holding up installation at this point in time.
· Lengthy and comprehensive discussion on proposed Community Center.
Commission reviewed the response of those present at the North Queensbury
Firehouse meeting. Also the negative position of the local press was discussed.
Nick Caimano contacted Commissioner Fusco to appear on his TV show to
discuss the project. He indicated County Supervisor at Large Mike Barody would
also appear. It is the opinion of the Commission to not be drawn into a debate
with Mr. Barody on this TV show. Commissioner Fusco was instructed to decline
the invitation. (Secretary's note: Since this discussion at the Commission
meeting Chairman LaBombard, Mr. Caimano and Commissioner Fusco and
Director Hansen had further discussion and agreed Commissioner Fusco would
appear without Mr. Barody or any intense debate. It would be informational only.
Commissioner Mott also agreed to appear.)
New Business
Chairman LaBombard discussed a skateboard park and possible dog park and how it
might have a positive impact on the Community Center proposal. Also discussed was
how extending the bike trail to the site would benefit the proposal. Commissioner Maine
agreed to look into the dog park concept.

· Planning-Commissioner Etu distributed the minutes of the planning committee
meeting of April 19th. Also discussed was the Veterans Memorial dedication at
Hovey Pond scheduled for July 4th.

Monthly Department Report
Brochures for summer programs are being worked on and scheduled for mailing in early
June. Gurney Lane scheduled to open by Memorial Day.

Motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Etu, seconded by Commissioner Maine at
8:59 p.m. All members present approved.
