I Gentlemen: This letter will serve as my report on the completion of the installation of the 8" water main, and accessories, glong the Bay Road northerly from the Glens Falls City Line to the entrance road to the plant of the U.S- Catheter and Instrument Co. under contract to one Joseph Brendese - the continuation of this main-to the Homer Avenue intersection - and the installation of a 6" main on Homer Avenue. The original contract was for all materials furnished EXCEPT those re - quired for the meter vault which the Contractor was required to supply under the contract price. I can report that the work has been done in compliance with the meaning and intent of the plans and specifications. leakage tests were conducted as the work progressed which revealed the leakage to be ONE-HALF of the allowable limits as adopted by the American Water Works Association standards and generally accepted and incorporated . in specifications , and adopted by the manufacturer of the Joint material used. A graph of these tests is attached hereto. Upon the closing of the lines - an ample quantity of HTH powder was inserted in the pipe 11ne for sterilization purposes. Water was then conducted into the line, the saturated mass allowed to stand for a sufficient time to insure sterilization and then the line drained.; f The meter vault has been completed and the meter installed, though not yet in operation for the lack of the closing fitting which has not' as yet been shipped by the manufacturer. The closing of the main line to permit the operation of the meter is the obligation of the Water Dept. of the City of Glens Falls. Numerous service connections to the newly installed main have been made - and• others are in the process of being made - for the consumers. A 6" fire line connection, as also a service line connect- ion, has been made for the U•S• Catheter and Instrument Co. These services should be metered. I am enclosing my statement for services rendered during this construction work and covering the period from May 12th. to and includ- ing June 25th. last. Respectfully submitted by (sgd) Ernest L.H.
