SWIMMING POOL INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
PRE-INSTALLATION
1. Apply for a permit immediately with your local building department to avoid any delays.
2. The balance due (on the materials) on your new pool is required 3 business days prior
to installation. Please stop in to make payment so that your pool installation does not
get delayed.
3. Materials for your new pool will typically be delivered 1-3 days prior to your installation.
No appointments are made for this delivery. Materials will be neatly placed in the yard
near the installation site.
INSTALLATION
1. A skid steer machine used for site excavation requires at least 6 feet of clearance. Any
obstacles such as fencing must be moved in advance by the homeowner. Also note
that because this is a heavy piece of equipment, it will leave marks in the yard.
2. The installation estimate includes digging up to 6"for leveling. There will be an
additional charge if more than 6" is required.
3. Any excavated material will remain on the premises. You may discuss with the installer
possible removal of this material for an extra fee.
4. All boxes and packing materials will be left neatly on the premises. The homeowner is
responsible for disposing of this waste.
5. Upon completion, payment for the installation must be made in the form of cash or
personal check, payable to the installer.
POST-INSTALLATION
1. You are responsible for supplying water needed to fill the pool. If water needs to be
trucked in, Islander can help arrange it. This should be discussed before installation.
2. Electrical hookup should be scheduled after the pool installation is complete. If you
need someone to do this we will be happy to give a recommendation.
3. NYS law requires that you have an ASTM certified pool alarm installed.
4. Contact your homeowner's insurance carrier and add the pool to your existing policy to
make sure that it is covered.
