DISCUSSION-FIRE CONTRACTS
Three Year Contract.. .
Contract discussion with West Glens Falls Fire Company
Requested the following be added..Advertising-$500.00 not on chart.. .items to be bid
Comptroller Hess-Noted there is a 18% increase with unrestricted movement between them to start with...
West Glens Falls-Noted the new budget reflecs the new building ..
Change In office supplies-increased amount noted last budget was lumped together with misc. supplies
and office equipment... part of increase is in updating the computers..increased from 1600 to 3400.00
Physicals. . . 5,000 Professional fees increase due to obtaining bookkeeper and yearly audit. . .7500.00 noted
last year costs ran 11, 000 (ran short) ... refreshments for fires. .. Building and Grounds Maintenance -
we're adding in land improvements and buildings now breaking it down.. 24,000 per year ..spoke about
physical and contract year will now be same... January to Dec. 31 st.
Comptroller Hess-243,800 was the budget 275,467 was what was spent in 1998 financial statement.
Councilman Martin-Questioned what the overall tax raised for fire?
Unknown-One million five for the 1999 budget ... 2000 tax rate for fire service raised 3.8%
Councilman Martin- Year 2000 amount to be raised by taxes for fire services 1.620 million .. a million
five forty in budgets...80,000 difference...
Comptroller Hess-Noted some money in contingencies for other expenses..last year an ambulance squad
needed ten thousand to do a roof, we have auditing money in the fire budgets and there is workers comp,
we pay full workers comp for all the squads...
Councilman Martin-We have a fund balance of one hundred and sixty eight thousand dollars ...
Comptroller Hess-One hundred thousand has been appropriated...
Councilman Martin-We are at a difference for a total for operations again at?
W.G.F. - About twenty seven thousand...
Comptroller Hess-All contracts have forty two hundred dollars not requested in most cases for the purpose
of vehicle in departments, or officer transportation. . .
W.G.F. -Three twenty six four is the bottom line.. . for the budget...
we need the extra funds for exhaust system, part toward bottles, updating communications system, thermo
imaging cameras down the road, hearing protection and communications system on new ladder truck...
Supervisor Brower-Questioned if there has been any discussion regarding fire alarms, limiting their use
during certain hours. . .
W.G.F. -No discussions have been held..noted they also have received complaints...
Board noted that numerous people had complaints regarding the use of the alarms late at night. . . alarms
also used for Civil Defense. . . suggested a joint letter from the Board and fire company explaining the
purpose of the alarms to the residents... also suggested this be in the Town's newsletter...
