The Board convened lat 7:30
A delegation from the various Fire Companies in the Town were present.
The Clerk read the proposed contract for fire protection within the
Town and after discussion the following resolution was adopted:
Resolution #35 introduced by Justice Bentley, seconded by Jus-
tice Slew'.--
1. -WHEREAS the Town Board proposes to enter into contracts for the
furnishing of fire protection on behalf of the fire protection district
of the Town of Queensbury,
" Therefore, be it resolved that a public hearing be called upon
such contracts to be held on the 5th day of July, 1949 at 7:30 P.M.
E.B.T. at the Town Clerk's Office, Ridge Road in said Town and it is
further resolved that the Clerk be authorized and directed to cause
to be published in ghe Glens Falls Times on the 23rd day of June, 1949
the following notice:
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTS.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that pursuant to Section 184 of the Town
Law, a public hearing will be held at the town clerk's office on Ridge j
Road in said town on the 5th day of July, 1949, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. , I
E.D.T, for the purpose of considering entering into a separate con-
tract with each of the following Volunteer Fire Companies: West Glens
Falls Volunteer Co. No. 1 Incorporated; North Queensbury Volunteer Fire
Company, Incorporated; South Queensbury Volunteer Fire Company Incor-
porated; Bay-Ridge Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. , and Queensbury Cen-
tral Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. , for fire protection to be furnished
by said fire companies to the fire protection district in said town,
which includes all of the territory in the Town of Queensbury, upon
the following general terms, to wit: The said fire companies shall at
all times, during the period of the contract, maintain at least one
piece of equipment, motorized and equipped for C-2 rate; the said fire
companies shall answer and attend upon all calls in the chartered area
of said companies when notified by an alarm or telephone. When called
by a member of the town board or any officer of any other fire company
within said fire protection district in said town shall respond with its
equipment; at all times will use its resources and best efforts to ex-
tinguish and control all fire and to save life and property of all or
any within said Town of Queensbury; that for such service each of said
fire companies shall be paid the sum of $2,000.00 annually, payable
$1,000 six months from the execution of the contract and $1,000 one
year from the date of the contract; the contract shall further provide
that if any of said fire companies shall fail to fulfill and perform
the conditions of its contract for a period of three months from its
date, then the town board may allot and pay to one or more of the fire
companies of said town for furnishing fire protection to the chartered
area of the defaulting fire company all, or any part, of the money due
or to become due under the contract for the period for which such ser-
vice was rendered; the contract shall continue for a period of five years ;
such other incidental terms as may be necessary or .proper in connection
with such contracting. 1
All persons interested in the matter will be heard at such time
and place.

Mr. Walkup, Councilman, offered the following resolution,/sec-
onded by Mr. Bentley, Justice of the Peace,
RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 256 of the Education Law the
Supervisor be and hereby is authorized to enter into a contract with
the Mountain Side Free Library in said town for the furnishing of
library service to the people of the Town of Queensbury for the sum
of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) annually.

check of such Corporation #15453 dated April 25, 1949 in the amount
of $312.90 on Glens Falls National Bank & Trust Co. , which was de-
'posited with bid for contract to lay water pipe in the North Glens
Falls Water District Extension.
