RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
RESOLUTION NO. 428, 1991,
Introduced by the Entire Town Board
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy, a resident of Queensbury, has served as
Chairman of the Queensbury Committee for Community Beautification,
since the Committee was appointed by John O. Webster on May 2,
1966, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy has served the Town of Queensbury with
distinction by developing programs that would enhance the
appearance of residential and commercial property in the Town of
Queensbury, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy was in command, when the official Town
Flower was designated as the Lemon Drop Marigold in November of
1967, and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Robert L. Eddy, the Committee has
promoted the use of the town's official flower in beautificatino
projects such as the "Plant the Marigold Week," in 1968, and the
"Yard Beautiful of the Fortnight" contests in the early 1970's, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy has been instrumental in carrying that
theme forward through the 1980s and into the 1990s, and
WHEREAS, the giant Mraigold placed on the lawns of homes selected
for the prestigious Beautification Award, has been symbol of
aesthetic reward in the Town of Queensbury, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy, organized and sorted more than 178
pictures and slides of the Town of Queensbury for display in the
Courthouse in 1984, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy, recently published a Limited Edition of
the book, "Queensbury's Heritage," featuring photos and dialog
outlining the history of the Town of Queensbury, and
WHEREAS, it was through the diligent efforts of Robert L. Eddy that
the Queensbury Heritage Trail Maps, offering a self-guided driving
tour of Queensbury's Historic Places, are now available for public
use, and
WHEREAS, Robert L. Eddy has not only given 20 to 30 hours a month
to the Town of Queensbury reviewing site plans and variances that
come before the Town's Planning and Zoning Boards, but he has also
served as a member of the Town's Land Use Advisory Committee and
the Bicentennial Committee, and
WHEREAS, on March 18, 1989, Robert L. Eddy received the Medal of
Honor from the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution for outstanding service which has contributed to the
betterment of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT KNOWN, that the Queensbury Town Board, on
behalf of the residents of the Town of Queensbury, does hereby
commend Robert L. Eddy for his dedication and unprecedented service
to the Town of Queensbury.
