RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT
RESOLUTION NO. 674, 1991

WHEREAS, the New York State Theatre Institute is a state wide
arts-in-education program of the State University system created by
an act of the Legislature in 1974 for the youth of New York State,
and
WHEREAS, the Theatre Institute has provided services for many
Queensbury organizations including the Adirondack Girl Scout
Council, the Queensbury Elementary, Middle and High Schools, and
WHEREAS, the Theatre Institute has not only provided wonderful
arts opportunities for the youth of the Town of Queensbury, but has
also provided valuable services to other schools and organizations
in Warren County,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board,
representing an estimated 30,000 residents of the Town of
Queensbury, stands in support of the New York State Theatre
Institute's contribution to the arts and education of the young
people of the State of New York, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury, opposes the severe cuts proposed to the State Theatre
Institute's programs. We hereby urge the Legislature and the State
University of New York Central Administration to restore a portion
of the reductions in the University at Albany's budget so that the
New York State Theatre Institute can continue to provide its
valuable services to the residents of the Town of Queensbury and
Warren County.
