Regular meeting June 24th,1944
At, a regular meeting of the Town Board of the .Town of
Queensbury, held on the above date at 7 :30 P.M. at the
Clerk's Office , the following members were present:
D.Elmer Fowler Supervisor
Henry Sleight Justice of the Peace
Meredith Bentley Justice of the Peace
Curtis Lampoon Councilman
Raymond Walkup Councilman
H• Russell- Harris Town Superintendent of Highways also
present.
Minutes of meeting held on the 27th day of May, 1944 were
read and approved.
Mr. Bert Daviggnnon of West Glens Falls ��d11e�Q,>:a�.the Board
in reference to the odor which apparently comes from a
dog kennell owned by Oscar Fisher and requested the Board
to take some action in reference to same. The ,supervisor
appointed Mr Bentley a committee of one to confer .with
Dr Chapman Town Hedlth officer in reference to same and
report to the Board.
Mr Lee Norton called on the Board in reference to the
work which was not completed by the G1ens. Fal.ls Grange
on the Nest Glens Falls Cemetery, explaining that the
work. was not completed. for the, reason that the members
had run into poison Ivy . Mr Norton stated that tha .
Glens Falls Grange should be ,paid for the amount of, the
work which, they had completed*
The clerk _read the following communication.
To the Towne Board of Queensbury Glens Falls N.Y.
June 24th,1944
Gentlemen:-
As, Town Supt of Highways for .(4ueensbury I would recommend
axe,. increase of- (05) g Five cents per hro in the rate of
pAy for employees of the Highway Dept. ,This- would make (.60)
Sixty cents laborers,, (.70¢) Motor equipment operators,
G00¢) eighty cents for mechanic*
Thla will be below the rate paid locally for the same type
of, work.

The Town Clerk read the Monthly statement. of Supervisor
of.moneys received and disbursed for the montjt, of May 1944,
and same placed on file.
The supervisor reported orally balances in accounts, as
stated below as of June 16th 1944. _ , . ,

The following resolutions were introduce and adoptede
Resolution No.20, Introduced by Councilman Walkup,
Seconded by Justice Bentley.
It was resolved that the rates of salary be and are hereby
fixed for the employees of the highway Department to' become

effective July lst,19449 as follows:
Laborers 60g per hour
Motor equipment Operators 70je per hour
mechanic, 80¢ per hour.
Duly adopted by the following vote:
A4yea- Mr Walkup, -Mr. Bentley, Mr Lampbopr, Mr Sleight and
. Ur Fowler.
Noss None.
Resolution No. 21 Introduced by Councilman Walkup, Seconded
b$ Justice Sleight.
Whereas the Glens Falls Grange was authorized the clean
the West Glens Falls Grange ( Old Part) and
Whereas the said Grange were unable to complete said work
in accordance tith the terms and conditions as set forth
in the resolution authorizing said work and
Whereas members of the Board examined said cemetery and
are of the- ®pinion that ten Dollars will justly
compensate the said Glens Falls Grange for, the work done
in said cemetery.
Therfers be it resolved that the supervisor be and is hereby
authorized and- directed to pay the said Glens Falls Grange
the smm of Ten Dollars for work done in said cemetery upon
prestatian of a properly verified voucher for same.
It is further resolved that said sum be paid from the
contingent fund for said purpose.
Duly adopted by the following vote :
Ayes, Mr Walkup, Mr. Bentley, Mr Lampson, Mr Sleight and
Mr Fowler

This is the applicatiton for the yearly gift or appropiation
of On a Hundred Dollars to the ountaineIde Free Library, to
be used for purchasing books! Wtc.

The Clerk read a communication from the Dept of Audit and
Control 'addressed to the supervisor which advised the as
constables were on a salary, nxxxvilitttamuIxuUmmul xhax
and that the salary covered the services- rendered in killing
Dogs etc. The letter was palced on file.

Minutes of meeting held on the 24th day of June, 1944
were read and approved.
Mr. Bentley committee to ingttire into odor from Dog kennel
reputed owned by Mrs 0. Fisher reported that-he eximined
the premises and that he also interview Dr Chapman He<h
officer who stated that he would examine the premises. He
also stated that the owner of the kennel stated that she
was willing to- cooperate in the matter.
Reolution No., 229, Introduced by Councilman Walkup, seconded
by Justice Sleight. -
It was resolved that the following legal -adverti-s*ent be
inserted in .the Glens Falls Post Star and Glens Falls Times
two successive days each week for the next two weeks.
Notice
To add omitted names of Queensbury residents
who are in the military services, to the Town
of Queensburyy Honor roll, Telephone, Henry J.
Sleight, Jusitice of the Peace-2-00224.
It is further resolved that the clerk be and is hereby
authorized and directed to cause the above adver Asement
to be inserted as above set forth.
