COMMENTS:
Realizing that homeowners acting as their own builders cannot be expected to
draw complete building plans; we will issue this permit with the above conditions.
There are several areas that will require substantial headers over openings. Where
there is roof load imposed the headers must be adequate. Example: the barn door is
shown to be 8 ft. wide with a 2x10 header. For this span, with a roof load, it
probably should be 2 ea.- 2"x12". The windows proposed are shown as "aprox 4'ft"
The header or lintel for a four to five foot opening should be probably 2-2"x6"
on gable walls and 2-2"x8" on eaves walls carrying roof loads.
These are some of the items I asked to have shown on the plans. . I give these
examples to demonstrate the lack of information shown. I do not mean to criticise.
I am simply trying to help to see that the work is "done once". Is is expensive
and frustrating to have to re-do construction.
Perhaps the paragraphs above will further demonstate the need for complete and
accurate Mans. -
Once again; I am issuing this permit and offering the assistance of this office
whenever questions arise. DO NOT HESITATE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OFFER.
