RESOLUTION SETTING PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING
AMENDMENT TO WEST GLENS FALLS VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY,
INC, FIRE SERVICES AGREEMENT
TO PROVIDE FOR PURCHASE OF PROTECTIVE GEAR

WHEREAS, the Town of Queensbury and the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company,
Inc. (Fire Company) have entered into an Agreement for fire protection services, which Agreement
sets forth a number of terms and conditions including a condition that the Fire Company will not
purchase or enter into any binding contract to purchase any piece of apparatus, equipment, vehicles,
real property, or make any improvements that would require the Fire Company to acquire a loan or
mortgage or use money placed in a “vehicles fund” without prior approval of the Queensbury Town
Board, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Company wishes to purchase 10 sets of personnel protective gear as
soon as possible to provide additional safety for its firefighters, and
WHEREAS, this purchase will increase the cost of providing necessary fire protection
services to the Town, and
WHEREAS, the Fire Company received a quote from a supplier of such gear in an amount
not to exceed $13,000, and
WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to set a public hearing concerning the proposed
increase in the Fire Company’s budget and amendment of its Fire Services Agreement, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Queensbury Town Board shall conduct a public hearing concerning
the increase in the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.’s budget for the year 2006 in an
amount not to exceed $13,000 for the purchase of 10 sets of personnel protective gear, and the
corresponding amendment to the Fire Company’s Agreement with the Town of Queensbury for fire

protection services, on Monday, December 4, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. in the Queensbury Activities
Center, 742 Bay Road, Queensbury, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby authorizes and directs the Queensbury Town
Clerk to publish a Notice of Public Hearing in the Post-Star Newspaper once at least ten (10) days
prior to the Public Hearing.
