Dear Mr. Bulman:
On Tuesday September 19, 2000 staff from this office witnessed deep test pits and
percolation tests on your Ridge Road property in the town of Queensbury.
An area in the backyard approximate 150'± behind the existing garage structure was
investigated to determine the presence of suitable soils to locate a new replacement
wastewater disposal system.
The results and locations of the Test Pits and Percolation Tests in this area are as follows:

Stabilized percolation rate of 7 minutes 50 seconds
The town of Queensbury Septic code and the New York State Dept. of Health
Wastewater Treatment design standards state that a minimum of 2' of vertical separation,
in this location, is required between the bottom of a leaching device and seasonal high
ground water or bedrock. As indicated by the mottling from Test Pit #2, stated above,
seasonal high ground water can be found at 24"+ below existing grade in the area
investigated for a new wastewater disposal system. The town of Queensbury definition
of a "fill system" is any sewage disposal system that requires fill above existing natural
grade. In order to maintain 2' of vertical separation the construction of a "fill system"
appears necessary.
In addition to maintaining 2' of vertical separation all horizontal separation distances
required by both the town of Queensbury and the New York State Dept. of Health (i.e.:
100' setback to a well, 10' setback to property lines, etc.) must be provided. Based on
visual observations at the time of the investigation, the locations of your well as well as
your neighbors to the north and south are as follows:
1) Bulman Property—Along north side of residence under the driveway.
2) Neighbor to North — In Driveway immediately to the south-southeast of the
residence.
3) Neighbor to South — (Bay Ridge Rescue Squad) under landscaping shrubbery
north of the Rescue Squad parking area in the northeast corner of their
property.
No other wells in the immediate area of the proposed replacement wastewater disposal
system were observed. Prior to construction of a new wastewater disposal system,
locations of all known wells, stated above, as well as all other wells not observed by this
office are to be verified and documented as to their exact location to insure that the
minimum 100' horizontal separation distance to the new wastewater disposal system is
met.
For further information regarding vertical and horizontal separation requirements refer to
the Town of Queensbury Septic Code Appendix "A" & "B" and the New York State
