There were present: George Kurosaka (Acting Chai:rnan) Sjoerdje Richardson Charles Sicard Richard Sanderspree being the rœmbers of the Board. On a notion made by Charles Sicard, seconded by George Kurosaka, the minutes of the last zœeting were approved as read. OID BUSINESS Variance #397 - Glens Falls City School District, 31 Glen- wood Avenue, Glens Falls. Richard Sanderspree nade a notion that Variarice #397, Glens Falls City Schcol District be approved subject to sub- mission of plans to the Warren County Planning Board. This was seconded by Sjoerdje Richardson. unaninous. Mr. Charles Sicard was disqualified on the above Variance #397. NEW BUSINESS: Variance #404 - Long John Silver" Miller Hill - to erect a sign on the roof of the property situated at Route 9 Miller Hill. George Kurosaka disqualified himself on this applica- tion. Mr. Al Henak and Mr. Venier from Long John Silver and Mr. Platt from Signs of Progress were present. Mr. Platt pointed out that the present sign they have is in front of the building and the visibility of this bus- iness fran northbound traffic on Route 9 is seriously harrper- ed by the In::>tel conplex. This business has one sign only, less than 50 sq. ft., from the highway. ~s- "--" -2- This business requires nore square footage in signs but cannot zæet the ordinance because they do not have any upright fascia to set the sign on. They asked pe:r::mission to erect a sign on the roof of the building which would be internally lighted during the hours of operation. Mr. Red Boynton said if they put a dorrœr on the building, it would be considered as part of the fascia but would be cost- 1 y and would like to get by without putting up the dorrœr. Correspondence was read from the League of Woman Voters in objection. Janes Young of 14 Greenway Road stated that if the Board allowed this sign, it might set a precedent for other business- es to do the sane. Jack Hallen, 19 June Drive was also in objection. Letters were read from Bradley Patch, Greenway Road who was in objection and from Ray Supply (John Goetz) who had no objection. Both TcMn and County Planning Boards disapproved. Variance #404, Long John Silver was tabled until the next meeting because of John Fitzgerald's absence. Variance #405, Michael E. SipOW'icz - to place an attach- ed garage less than the required front setback on the property situated at 6 Cherokee Lane. Mr. Sipowicz was present and requested to place an attach- ed garage 26' in lieu of the required 30' front set back. He said he wanted to attach the garage on the West End of the house so he 'WOuldn't have to dig up his lawn and hedge, and J6, ~ -3- it 'WOuld be least e:xpensi ve. There were no appearances for or against. The Town Board recarroonded approval. Charles Sicard made a notion that Variance #405, Michael E. Sipowicz be approved in confo:rnance with the Town Planning Board. This was seconà.ed by Dick Sanderspree. Unaninous . Variance #406, Harold J. Halliday, Pres. Halliday Tours Unlimited, Inc. - Route 9L - to convert two stores into three apartrœnts in an R-3 Zone on the property situated at Route 9L, 1/4 mile fran Cleverdale Road. Mr . Harold Halliday was present. Mr. Halliday stated that the Town Ordinances state that in an R-3 Zone, there can only be two family dwellings at 900 square feet for each apa.rtn:ent and he is trying to rerrcdel the interior of an already const- ructed building into a three family hare, year round living quarters with less square feet of living space than required. The ordiance further states that there should be 900 square feet of space per each apartIœnt, and in order to do that to this building, it would require major construction. Mr. Halliday said the building had been vacant for allrost two years, it has been an eyesore to the cœmuni ty . He is willing to put a lot of tine and lOOney into this project and feels that it will be beneficial to both the public and the town . "-- Mr. Halliday understands that he has to have approval from the APA. Mr. Red Boynton said he had seen the plans and everything is acceptable and that the room sizes are very generous. The d7 -4- '- septic system will be new. There were no appearances for or against. Mrs. Halliday was also present. The Town of Queensbury Plarming Board reccmœnded approval of the two apartIœnts subject to Adirondack Park Agency approval and Lake George Park Comnission Sewage approval. The two apart- mants approved are ApartIœnt #1 Top Floor 805 sq. ft. and apart- mant #2 Top Floor 648 sq. ft. The Warren County Board approved in conformance with the Town Planning Board. Dick Sanderspree made a motion that Variance #406, Harold J. Halliday, be approved subject to both planning boards. This was seconded by Sjoerdje Richardson. Unaninous.
