Regular monthly meeting of the Queensbury Zoning Board of
Appeals was held February 15, 1984 at 7:30 P.M.
Present: Mrs. Goetz, Mr. Griffin, Mr. Turner and Mr. Cornwell
Absent: Mr. Sicard, Mrs. Richardson and Mr. Mills
Chairman asked for a motion to approve the minutes of January 18,
1984.
Motion by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Griffin,
RESOLVED that the minutes of the Meeting conducted January 18,
1984 be approved as presented.
Yes: Mr. Turner, Mr. Griffin and Mr. Cornwell
No: Nòne
Abstain: Mrs. Goetz (not present at meeting)
Interpretation No. 24 - Herbert Kane
Mr. Kane was present.
Chairman explained that this involved Variance No. 867 and
how the distance was measured from the Lake. He explained
the problem to the Board in that the information submitted
previously to the Board would change.
Mr. Kane explained that he was bringing to the attention of
the Board that the measurements given before were in error.
He said that where the stakes are is where they will stay, that
being 30' from the leake instead of 34.
Mrs. Goetz interjected here that this information wouldn't
change her vote at all.
Motion by Mrs. _Goetz, seconded by Mr. Griffin, all viting
affirmatively
RESOLVED that the Zoning Board of Appeals approves the 30'
measure as previously given by Mr. Kane.
Approved.
VARIANCE NO. 891 - Adirondack Grinding Co., Inc.
represented by Mr. John Girard
Chairman noted that this is not the first time Mr. Girard has
been before the Board for an expansion.
Mrs. Geotz made reference to the Planning Board minutes.
Mr. Girard explained that this expansion is needed mainly for
room. They will also employ more handicapped people.

A question was asked regarding parking and Mr. Girard said he
has adequate parking.

Chairman questioned outside storage.
Mr. Girard noted that there will be no outside storage.
Mr. Turner asked how large the addition would be.
Mr. Girard said 40 x 80.
Mrs. Goetz questioned the signs and Mr. Girard said the
signs were inside the window.
Chairman asked Mr. Girard if he had any problems with his neighbors.
Mr. Girard said he contacted most of the neighbors and there
didn't seem to be any problems with them.
Mrs. Goetz asked if there would be any noise generated and Mr.
Girard said no, no more than there is now at times.
Meeting opened to the public.
Mr. Elder, Corinth Road, not in favor of expansion.
Mrs. Goetz asked if he had problems living near the business and
Mr. Elder answered yes, he said he dosen't like what goes on
around the area.
Mr. Griffin asked if it was the noise that he was complaining about.
Mr. Elder said that you hear the grinding all day long. Girard
does whatever he wants to do.
Mr. Kenyon LaPOint, Corinth Road (across from Adirondack Grinding)
complained that the complete job on the building has not been
done from the last addition. The driveway was black topped
and part of the building had siding put on it. Also, the grinding
over there is bad.
At this point Mr. Girard explained the type of grinding that is
done outside.
Mr. Turner asked if there would be any increase in traffic.
Mr. Girard said that the traffic will remain the same.
Mr. LaPOint next mentioned the problems there with fixing of
cars. Mr. Girard said this was his sons doing and he took care
of this before and he will again.
Mr. Griffin mentioned that the main problem hear seems to be
the noise and behavior of family members who use the premises
for after work recreation.
The Town Planning Board recommended approval along with the
Warren County Planning Board.

The Town Beautification Committee reviewed the request and also
recommended approval.
Motion by Mr. Turner, seconded by Mr. Griffin,
RESOLVED that the Zoning Board of Appeals approves
Variance No. 891 as there is no change in the character of the
neighborhood, no adverse additional traffic and not to grant it
would¡cause a hardship.
Mrs. Goetz interjected before the vote was taken that she did
not think not granting it would be a hardship nor did she think
that to relocate would be a hardship.

Approved.
VARIANCE No. 892 - Amerada Hess Corporation
Sign Variance
Representative of the Corporation showed a design of the proposed
station. He discussed the size of the signs allowed and what
would be used. He explained that it is on a corner he also ex-
plained the entry and exits from the area.
Public hearing was opened and no one present either for or against
request.
Public hearing closed.
The Planning Board recommended approval along with the Warren
County Planning Board.
Motion by Mr. Griffin, seconded by Mrs. Goetz, all voting
affirmatively
RESOLVED that the Zoning Board of Appeals approves Variance
No. 892 as it is a reasonable request and will improve the
area. The signs will not be required to conform in 1986.
Approved.
INTERPRETATION NO. 25 - DeCan Construction
Big Boom Road
Represented by Mr. DePalo
Letter was read by Mr. Turner
Determine if the cement operation being planned by Mr. DePalo
would fit into the light industrial classification.
Mrs. Goetz asked if this is the first of this type of operation
in the area, Mr. DePalo said it was.

Chairman asked if the Board members present felt that this would
fit into the heavy industrial classification, members said no.
