RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS FOR
CONTRIBUTIONS AND PLEDGES TO 1999 UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN

WHEREAS, Henry Hess, Town Controller, has advised the Town Board of the Town of
Queensbury that the local United Way organization has requested Town Board authorization to allow
Town employees to make voluntary contributions and pledges by payroll deduction to the United Way
during its 1998 campaign, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hess has recommended Town Board authorization for the program with the
understanding that the Town is not an official sponsor of the United Way campaign and therefore will
not recommend, advise nor persuade employees to participate in the campaign and all donations and
pledges will be strictly voluntary,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Queensbury hereby approves of an
agreement between the Town and the local United Way organization allowing employees to make
voluntary contributions and pledges by payroll deduction to the United Way during its 1998 campaign
and further authorizes and directs the Town Supervisor to execute any agreements or documentation in
form approved by Town Counsel, and
BE IT FURTHER,
RESOLVED, that the Town Board further authorizes and directs the Town Controller’s Office
to take such other and further action necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
