Dear Mr. Hatten,
It is our understanding that the roof framing for the new second
story portion of the referenced project was constructed of rafters
and ceiling joists instead of the pre-engineered roof trusses as
noted on our drawings.
The construction in place is as follows:
- New roof rafters - 2x10' s @ 16" O. C.
- New ceiling joists - 2x8' s @ 16" O. C. , running North/South.
- Ceiling joists are supported by 3 - 1-3/4" x 9-1/2" Micro- lams
running East/West across the Master Bedroom area at the midpoint,
placed on full jack studs built into the wall construction.
Based on our calculations this construction is acceptable as a
substitute for that originally shown on our drawings.
