2. The existing building has 8" concrete block walls, 2"x12" woc Ogwjw COD YC., a wood
trussed roof with a 5" in 12"pitch and a first floor of 4"thick cod
3. The interior of the existing 8"block walls will be furred with 2"x4" studs, 16" O.C. and new R-
13 fiberglass insulation applied, except at the common walls with the garage.
4. The existing stairs will remain as-is---12 closed risers 8 1/4"high with 10"wide treads.
5. The existing storage areas on both floors will remain. The oil-fired furnace will remain in one
corner of the existing 1 . floor storage area.
6. The open area from 1'. floor to 2nd. floor will remain as well as the 35" high wood railing
surrounding it.
7. The existing 2nd. floor joists and the existing roof trusses will be insulated with R-38 fiberglass
insulation. Vapor seals will be installed on the warm side of all applicable insulation.
8. All exterior walls will be finished with !/2" gypsum wallboard except the internal common walls
and ceiling of the garage. Garage walls and ceiling common to both the garage and the
residence will be finished with 5/8" type X fire-rated gypsum wallboard (minimum of 3/4 hour
fire rating) and the pedestrian door between the garage and the residence will have a%hour fire
rating and be self-closing.
9. Much of the existing building construction is not observable and none subject to change. The
pedestrian door between the garage and the residence shall be weather-stripped at its bottom
edge to prevent fumes from migrating from the garage to the residence.
10. The location and number of smoke detectors and the carbon dioxide detector conform to the
applicable N.Y.S. code requirements.
11. Bedroom windows will have clear openings complying with the N.Y.S. code requirements.
